Hi everyone, I'm sure everyone's hear the horror stories about kotoys.com. I've only had one transaction with them, and it went well. However, in the light of all their negative feedback, and recently a total lack of communication from the website to some emails I've sent them recently, I'd like to know if the items sitting in my shopping cart are avalilable elsewhere. In particular, the unassembled KO Classics Hot Rod Black plastic and Clear Red Plastic kits. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I don't believe they are, and I don't really think any retailer will send you to another store to buy a product that they offer. Just my if I understand you're question right.
Ah, no - I wasn't asking them that. Some clarification: I asked KOtoys.com a question a month ago about their Rodimus kits. No response. I'd sent another recently about shipping addresses (my Paypal lists Canada, since I can't link it directly to my Korean work address) - still no reply to that. Just worried that if the order was processed, it would ship to my parents address in Ontario. Since anyone who runs an online website needs to answer questions/queries in a timely fashion - and KOtoys isn't right now: Are there other sites that sell the same product(s)?
I think he's just looking for alternatives. I've only bought from ebay amd chimungmung Toy Shop but KOTOYS has some exclusive stuff. I've heard good things about Acestoystore and it's on the US. But once again KOTOYS has so much stuff that I can't really think of a proper alternative.
My apologies, I misunderstood the question (and didn't mean to come off snarkey if I did) These are probably your best bets for KOs other than KOToys, but KOToys stocks so many things that aren't available on other sites it kinda hard to avoid them all together. And I am pretty sure those unassembled kits are exclusive to them, I know they strike deals with some of the manufacturers for exclusive decos on items. The best way to contact them is through MSN, I believe they have a link somewhere on the site. Best of luck to you.
Oh, not at all - you just sounded confused. Ah, I might try that MSN route. I've had bad luck with online stores who don't reply back (shipping things to my Canadian address, or not at all), so I was worried about the possibility of having to mail forward a ton of KOs twice around the world. I've checked out chimungmung Toy Shop, and their KO Alternators/Binaltechs are about $2 more than KOtoys, but they had more selection in that area. Sadly, those kits seem to be exclusive to KOtoys, so I'll likely give it another shot there.
They've been very busy moving and planning. Don't forget they are in China. They have recently come back online. I chatted with Gen last night. iDD
excuses excuses, they just take your money, send you broken garbage, then ignore you. i suggest if you cant what you are looking for elsewhere, learn to do without..they are ko after all
Aw nah, they don't ignore you. They just take their sweet ass time in getting back to you, then tell you they had like two month's worth of back logged e-mails that's taking them forever to generate a one sentence response to for each e-mail they should have responded to 2 months ago. In this case, they can wait an extra month because they were "moving." So that explains it all.
I know that there is alot of negative feedback about them, but I have never had an issue with any order I've ever made with Gen and KOToys. I've ordered several times with them and communication was fine.
kotoys is just a guy and his girlfriend probably doing it as a side job as i don't know if it's profitable enough to make a living off it. it's a lot of work to get toys from factories/wholesalers, check inventories, process payments and ship stuffs out for a 2 person operation, so i'd cut him some slacks for delaying in answering non emergency emails.
yeah i don't know much about the personal dramas and stuffs behind kotoys' owner, but from what i gathered, they're pretty small operation, so i imagine they get easily overwhelmed even without the owner's personal problems and what not.
Gotta say I've never had any issues with chimungmung and he's pretty quick at getting back to you. The tiny difference in price for that seemingly better service is worth it I'd say.
Stories on the boards say otherwise; he's making bank. Like others said, the store has a number of CHMS items that are hard to find elsewhere, and the KOLD stuff is their own personal KO brand. They're actively commissioning new KOs based on customer feedback, and you can't do that without money in the bank. Also have you heard some orders people put on the site? Hundreds worth of KO items, and the S&H is hardly cheap. Ordered 4 items of relatively light weight... paid almost 30$. Box looked like it was dropkicked in the rain when I did get it a month later. I've gotten stuff off eBay that came from China before for less S&H, in much better condition and shorter time frames.
Well, lets just say that given certain situations and circumstances, its hard to "cut them slack" when you've tried to be patient with them and tried to communicate with them. Take for example, if you will, that you went to their site to IM them through their embedded chat thing. About 5 minutes later, they disconnect, thus effectively closing out of the conversation and come back online. You wait, giving them a benefit of a doubt because they claim China's internet connection is "shitty." You see them connected for quite some time and try IMing them again. Moments later they disconnect as if to just close out of the conversation. Then they reconnect. Try repeating this multiple times. Multiple days. What would you think if this is all that you see when they say that "chatting" with them is better than "e-mailing" them? Me, I'd be thinking that if you're too busy to "chat", then don't log on! Handle your business and log back on when you HAVE TIME to chat. Or.....are they just purposely ignoring IMs for....like....whatever reason? Hmmmmm.....well gee....I don't know. Its frustrating to say the least.
