Cricket is, like almost all sports, something I know absolutely nothing about. However, I recently came into posession of a cricket bat signed by the British, Australian, and Pakistani world cup teams of 1979. Does anyone here know if this is worth anything or if its a big deal? It was found in the attic of my deceased great uncle and I was told to take it by his wife (who opperates under the assumption that I may have use for it). If it's worth something I shall tell and she can decide whether she wants it back or whether to sell it something. Thanks for helping me on this. (If this is the wrong place to post this, please could you move it.)
not sure. sounds like it could be. check through the signatures to see if any of them are Jiminy, if so you've got yourself a goldmine.
^ this, save for the posibility of brit crickets fans that moved here for some reason, but even so it wouldhave more value in the countries who's players signed it, id reccommend you take it someplace that deals in sports memorabilia and have then appraise it for you, as it will be more accurate then any guess you could get here
Slap some Manchester United colors on it and your gold Check with the local sports pub's. One of them is bound to buy it.
There actually is a US national team, but I'm told that it's one of the most corrupt and political organizations (amongst other accusations). Some of it undoubtedly comes from the fact that there's no press coverage of the sport. (I don't mean a very little like European League or Australian Rugby, I mean none at all.) I occasionally see kids playing cricket in the field up the street. It's mostly kids of sub-continental descent but it seems to be catching on slowly with the younger kids as a whole. (It'll be big in colleges in a few years, I predict.)
my suggestions with cricket is pesticides... or a flamethrower. ...huh? oh you mean the sport... im gonna post a quote from a movie. see if you know what movie. guy1: (takes out cricket bat) "Cricket?" guy2:"Cricket? Nobody understands cricket. you gotta know what a CRUMBIT is before you can understand cricket." guy1:"I'll teach you!"(swings bat) WACK! guy2 goes flying into a trash can.
Use wikipedia to look up the rosters for those teams and see what names pop up. then go from there. moral of the story: google.
The first turtles movie, just 'cause. This isn't the right place to ask for price quotes on sporting equipment.
I have looked at auction sites for similar items and was unable to find anything with the same number of names on, I was merely hoping that someone on here might know something. I understood in advance that the item is probably worth little in the United States. However, this site is not exclusively American. I thought it worth a try to ask. With a site of over 40,000 members it seemed logical to assume that someone on here had some knowledge of Cricket. Thank you everyone for taking a look.
what you have is a very specific item, you need to take it to an expert to get its true value a local auction house should be able to help you get in contact with a british sports memorabila expert
That's my next step, grimlock1972. It would have been nice to have had a rough idea in advance though. Like I said, thank you all.
your welcome, sorry we could not be more help, maybe a Cricket fan forum would have been more help( assuming one exists )
