Hey guys, I was wondering if I'll encounter any difficulties in selling my Encore Megatron to US buyers? Do the customs over there ban shipping of any items that resembles a gun (although it's a toy gun). Or what if I choose to ship him out in robot mode, will that allow him to be shipped in?

And if I do ship Megatron in robot mode, his other accessories still can pass through right? (His gun barrel, scope etc)

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I know per US law, any toy gun sold in the US must have a brightly colored plug permanently affixed to the barrel to differentiate it from the real deal.

If it's in gun mode and doesn't have the box I don't know how they could stop you.

in 2012 i moved from the us to germany and back to the us earlier this year. before i left, i went to the local dollar store, bought a toy gun with orange suction cup darts, and stuck a dart in the barrel of MP Megatron. on the way back to the US, i stuck one in the barrel of Hegemon.

    no problems with customs.

If you send it it gun mode, it'll be a crap shoot. They don't check every package but if they do check it I don't think it'll get through. I would send it in robot mode & cross your fingers. The robot mode is less likely to set off any alarms if/when the package gets x-rayed. Just my opinion.

It's highly unlikely they'll check your package; there's thousands and thousands of them coming in all the time. Don't write MEGATRON GUN on the outside and you'll be fine 999 times out of a 1000.

when MP05 was released, i bought two of them from overseas (i live in the US).. both from different sellers. i didn't have any issues with either of them. neither of them had an orange plug put on them.

i think you'll be fine if it's shipped in robot mode.

and like it's been said, 9 times out of 10 they won't check it out.. especially if it's in robot mode. and if you're really worried, LSyd had a great idea with the little orange suction cup things.

is the figure open and out of packaging?

Robot mode scanners are designed to pick up anything shapped like a gun and move it aside for inspection

Ship it in robit mode and you should be fine. If you fill out any customs form just write in the description "toy".

Yeah he's loose. Do you guys think the barrel and scope will be able to pass the checks too?

Maybe ship the barrel and scope separately? (Unless if that's too costly)

On the original Megatron, the scope split into three pieces. If that's still doable then I'd do it, it's just some bits then, not threat-shaped. I've wondered about this too but not to the point that I can be any real help, sorry, though I'll be interested in your experience.

Plus you can always get a few bits of cheap plastic widget from a hardware store and attach them to the toy pieces with elastic bands to disguise the scope shapes further (and possibly the robot too) if the package gets scanned.

Dunno if that would actually work, but I suppose no harm in trying. Would also slightly increase the shipping weight though.
Ebay will probably take down your listing. They have a thing against pretty much any Megatron gun toys. But sometimes they slip through the cracks so you might be okay. Just don't mention guns (or replicas thereof).

So I finally sold Megatron today. And now I am considering to either send him in robot mode or gun mode. This is tough

This is probably you're best option. Nothing may happen either way but why risk the trouble in gun mode. Just package the figure safely and pad it where he doesn't scoot around. :)

Um, what? There are tons of Encore/reissue Megatrons on ebay, as well as MP5 and the legends one and those auctions never get pulled.
