Sonokong and Choirock's Hello Carbot, one of the popular transforming robot series in South Korea since 2014, now has its first movie in Korean theaters this August.

(poster attached because new users can't post images)

Any thoughts or predictable predictions? (This movie's rating is obviously not like the 1986 Transformers movie or those {insert adjective here} Michael Bay films)

hasbro didn't invent the idea of transforming robots. they didn't even invent the first 100 or so transforming robots they released.

Maybe not, but they perfected it and are the best at it IMO.

Also that was meant to be a joke.

Sonokong sure seems to have learned a lot about transforming robot aesthetics from selling Transformers for Takara in the early 2000s though.

I have no idea how good or bad the movie might be, but they're certainly imitating the right stuff.

Uh, it might've been a joke, but Hasbro can't do a thing. Sonokong has a license from Takara so if these were Takara mold reuses, they'd be well within their rights to do this.

I don't have any of the toys, but I have seen videos of them on YouTube. They are fairly simple transformations, and combinations, but they are also fairly creative too. Their combiners are more inspired by Brave toys than Transformers.

I have seen some episodes of the show too. Seems to be a lot like Rescue Bots, or that old Gobots show. (The Hasbro one.) Where they don't actually fight any villains or anything. But, they do a lot of rescuing.

Their stuff is definitely more interesting than the stuff Hasbro is putting out these days.

No, Only Season 1 and 2 Carbots are Hyundai vehicles. Although Pentastorm, the main Season 1 combiner, does make an appearance in this movie after a very long absence.

I don't know, I watched it raw. There really isn't anything going on the series that isn't easily interrupted with the animation. It's nothing complex at all.

The way I see it, this movie and the Tobot movie last year are "Transformers" movies kids can enjoy and not be scared or offended by mature content, such as from the 1986 movie or the Michael Bay movies. Case in point, I remember a family coming into and walking out of a screening of The Last Knight as I watched it in theaters.

Kids are not offended, nor are scared away from mature content. That's the parents.

Kids actually love mature content and scary stuff.

Thanks for clarifying. As I'm aware, kids here get into Tobots and Hello Carbots as young as 3-5.

Mattel has the ability to release Hello Carbot in the west. They just have to wonder if it's worth it.

I bet they will bring it over. Once Transformers' popularity dies back down to pre-bay films levels again. Or, once it bounces back up. Giving kids an alternative to TF would only help TF, after all. And Transformers really needs the competition. They've been slumming it lately.

No, they are distinct from knockoffs! Here's some high-quality images of the Hello Carbot "Dinobots".

Here are "premium knockoffs" that were in corners of Korean retailers for $20/20,000 KRW. Is this triceratops bot with a dino-crotch the KO or similar you were referring to?
