    Is Hearts of Steel comic series part of the old IDW ongoing? Or is it a stand alone comic and has nothing to do with Mike Costa's ongoing. How is the art, the story, is it worth the read?

    It was supposed to be the start a new continuity, and it's since been abandoned.

    It's a standalone, most notable for its cool steampunk designs. The story's a bit meh.

    Great idea but with very weak implementation.

    But heck it spawned some really nice third party toys so it had some merit.

    Shame the story wasn't more solid... Maybe it just feels like something is missing as Optimus is still asleep for some reason.
    Maybe one day of their looking for a quirky Transformers Movie reboot this might be the idea to pinch - Steam punk deserves more love than it gets.

    Yep, it's a standalone series. The Transformers issues of Infestation 2 and the X-Files crossover are the only other stories that take place in that continuity.

    I haven't read it, but I'd like to at some point. I've heard the story's somewhat dull though, and that the ending's a bit shit.

    Best thing to come out of it are the designs.
