Minor/Repaint: Head-to-toe Siege Megatron repaint

I hold the parts around 12 inches away from the spray. I use either a pair of pliers to hold the piece, or oftentimes I use skewers. Yes, that's right. The bamboo/wooden skewers you can find at most grocery stores for grilling food. You can put them into screw holes or wedge them into corners, hold the part by that, and then you even have a handle when you put the part somewhere to dry. When I spray I use a left-to-right and back motion, very evenly, and go past the edge of the part. I make anywhere from 2-3 light passes, but the paint builds up a little during those passes and smooths right out. That usually does the trick, but sometimes I will repeat that process. You don't want to move too fast, but not too slow either.

Practice is the key. Just grab a can, get you some broken or spare parts you have lying around and paint a few until you get it where you like it. It dries to where you can handle it in less than an hour, but I usually let it dry over night before painting over it or moving the parts/joints. Good luck! You'll get it.

Thank you so much for the instructions! I think I am going to buy a spare Megatron to paint and hope for the best. If that works out, then I can finish my custom TR Galvatron.

Do you have any issues with the joints sticking after the spray coat?

None at all. I've transformed him 3 times since completion to check on such things.

Keep in mind many joints never see full exposure. You won't always have to paint some joints as much as other parts. They are often concealed so a light coat or accent will work just fine. For example with Megatron, you really don't see much of his knee joint at all in either mode, so i used just a very light coat of silver to highlight in case I needed a pose that shows them.

This is awesome and inspires me to do the same with my Megatron! One question for you: I see that Duplicolor Silver Frost comes in Ford or Nissan matching version. Which one did you use? Thanks!
