Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a rather decent guy. But its mostly accepted that lately, his choice in films makes no sense to anyone other than Dwayne and his family. he's an action star that's just not reaching supernova and his fans are left scratching our heads. but i do respect his decisions. it's great to see an actor pushing for family friendly films. it's good to see heroes in lighthearted fare. but i think he should get back into the rougher stuff once in a while just to keep his face fresh. I miss the days of The Rundown, The Scorpion King, Walking Tall... Seeing him In GI Joe 2 is a nice start, hope he keeps it up. Anyone else feel the same way about Dwayne? that he needs to get back to basics once in a while between family films and return to the top of the action genre?
You questioning the Rock's choices in films? He'll take your little Alabama helmet, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and shove it straight up your candy ass!!! Nobody questions anything the Rock does.
Oh, you thought Escape to Witch Mountain was ahsum? besides, until Dwayne comes in here, i am not worried about him doing anything. people always have an actor they want to see in more movies or in roles more suited to their strengths.
Well, maybe he really enjoys the family movies. Or maybe GI Joe 2 will be the start of a new trend for him.
He mixes it up pretty good. You've got the family friendly stuff like "Tooth Fairy", "Journey 2" or "The Game Plan" but then he does stuff like "Fast 5", "Faster", and "GI Joe II". I like him and will usually watch him in either type of movie.
I'm happy for the Rock that he's able to change up what he does. No actor wants to be type cast forever.
he is mixing it up, family films, fast and furious five, family films, pain and gain, family films, fast and furious 6, etc
I have noticed The Rock doing many family films, starting with The Game Plan back in 2007, was it? He's probably doing all these family films to sort of get reacquainted with the public. We all know Race to Witch Mountain, Mysterious Island, Game Plan, and all these other family films, get their fair share of commercials, particularly Disney with its' "teen pop singer with no real talent" and huge amount of money for advertising. And mission accomplished - the Rock seems to be back in the pop culture of today's eye. That's just my take on it, though. I am excited to see him as Roadblock in GI Joe Retaliation.
LOL. Arnie did EXACTLY the same thing in his heyday, violent film>family film>violent film etc. IIRC Arnie actually spoke to the Rock about his action movie career and gave him advice and insight about it, so you never know, maybe the Rock is following the Arnie movie variety plan.
Hes actually pretty good at doing action/comedy; ive really liked him alot more since he went to movies
I think he should have had a role in Expendables 2. Him vs Jason Statham. Those two are the only real "action" movie stars I can think of that fit the roles that used to belong to Sly and Arnold.
