Not at all... She's actually leaning more on the end of keeping it due to sentimental reasons.

To make a long story short, my wife encouraged me to start collecting comics again while we were still dating back in 1996 and many years later up until 2005 when I stopped collecting comics, the collection has grown to where it is now and we have had a great time and many fond memories of putting it all together.

My wife's truly a one of a kind and that's why I married her. :thumb

WOW, that collection is huge! I thought my 2 white boxes and book case of trades was huge :lol . Maybe you can sell ones that aren't that sentimental to you? Cut it down a little? If you are conflicted about it.

Yes, but mine are not worth anything so I just keep them.

I want to sell most of my Marvel comics, but first I gotta make a list and then I download them. But I will keep the TPBs, my Mangas and my old Disney comics from childhood.

Right before I moved last year I parsed my comic collection. It was only about 4 longboxes worth, but that is sizable for me. I decided to keep about half of them and get whatever I could from the local comic store. I know there were no prizes in there, but at $10 a box I really struggled with whether or not I should just keep them. But I already had my favorites at home and sold them. Not a single regret since then. Most of the books I had totally forgotten about. Others were not a complete run so reading 2/3 of the story was never going to happen.

I noticed people mentioning Comixology or other digital services... but that would really piss me off to have to pay for it twice.

Bottom line advice: Keep the ones you like and might potentially re-read. Sell the rest and don't look back.

I would recycle those comics and buy trade collections which have the issues you want to keep

The bulk of my collection is the first couple of years of Image Comics. I'd be thrilled to sell my collection. There will always be a handful of comics I'll always keep, though.

My collection spans from 84 (gee related to Transformers???) to the current day with a complete break for a few years until DreamWave brought Transformers back.

It's a majority of Marvel with a small amount of DC, DW TF stuff and IDW TF stuff.

I'm at about 12-15 long boxes and another 6 or so stackable half boxes. I still collect, but some of the stuff has gotten to the point where its to the point of moving on with.

Talked to the local store owner and he is willing to check it out, but I have to go thru what I have here and the remainder at my folks houses......

Not really. Selling them would be too much of a hassle and I don't even have them sealed. Besides, They're reading Material with Pictures.

I see myself going that route. I'm going to see what I get rid of, keep what I want and go from there. I don't have the luxury of space and all I'm doing is storing them and not reading them much anymore. I'm keeping my old TF comics, buying the new ones in hardcover and pretty much anything else via digital as I've downloaded several to my phone and read them when I'm at work.

If anything, what I really want now is an ipad to read my comics on...:)

Yeah, I'll spend money on buying nice hardcover editions like the TF IDW collection or go digital. Comixology had a half off sale on the old G.I.Joe Marvel run I never got around to reading...downloaded that. Keeping and storing floppies is just a pain. The only downside of digital, nothing for autographs.

All I need is that ipad...lol

I have sold most of mine to Lone Star Comics. Their website address is Comic Books: Buy, Sell, Trade, Consign, Collect | mycomicshop.com. I just see which ones that they want and send them off to them. Also, they do take consignments. I believe that I have sold 120 comics in the last 4 months to them. In terms of tracking down the IDW issues again, I went the digital route...they are on my iPad. The original comics (both Marvel USA and UK) and Dreamwave are on a disk.

All I have are the tradebacks of MTMTE and RID, and some Marvel G1.

There is no way in hell I would ever part ways with them. Easily the best stories i have ever read.

    I thought about it, yeah.
But I'm not a collector of particularly valuable or hard to find comics, so there wouldn't much much profit to gain, and I feel it would be more trouble than it's worth to sort and sell rather than just keep them.

I'd sell all my comics in a milisecond if I could get at least 1/3-1/2 what I paid for them.

I for one would keep my Transformers comics. Heck, they're what got me into comics. If I had to sell, I'd start with all the Flashpoint stuff I bought after I get the trades.

I go through this every now and then. Not just with comics, but whatever I collect at the time. I sold off all but 2 of my Transformers about 4 years ago, comics and toys, and don't really regret it. Made some decent cash and made the wife happy.

I kept on collecting other comics, though, mostly Superman and Green Lantern. I'm slowly building complete runs of each from Crisis on Infinite Earths up to current. Very exciting. All those I'm surely going to keep. Some other stuff comes and goes. I started reading Captain America around the time the movie came out and enjoyed it, so I went back and starting collecting Brubaker's run from the beginning. Now that I'm only a handful of issues from the whole run I've completely lost interest... thinking about selling (knowing I'm going to take a financial hit, but whatever) or holding on in case the bug comes back again...

Ah, the life of a comic geek...

Sold all of mine to a kid last year when I did a yard sale.

was heavy to move around and honestly... was just gathering dust.

I do have all of them and a hell of a lot more in digital format so I can read them anytime I want

As I said earier, I'm very much in the same boat with my collection from the '90s. I'm to the point to where I need to think of mucb more creative solutions to part with most of them. I'm certainly open to serious ideas.

Up until recently I had about 12 long boxes of comics. I've personally never been a big fan of long boxes, with how much space they take up and I rarely if ever dig back in them for back issues. A few months back, I decided to just get rid of everything and only keep the issues that really matter to me. Everything I sold that I actually cared about I've been re-buying in TPB's & Hardcover form and I couldn't be happier. Omnibus and Absolutes are awesome. The books look way nicer on a book shelf than a closet full of longboxes ever did and for me its a more pleasurable way to read these stories as well. In many ways it's reinvigorated my love of comics and I've been re-reading a lot of things I haven't touched in years Hell, currently re-reading the entire claremont X-men run and just recently got up to the Jim Lee era. Before that I re-read a ton of Daredevil stuff I haven't touched in ages (including Frank Miller's & Bendis' runs).

Selling most of my comic collection has been one of the smartest moves I've made in years. If only I did it before I moved, instead of 4 months after. ;)
(The spare cash made has been extra helpfull in buying new furniture around the house, as well as for affording more high end collectibles, like Hot Toys as well).
