What the '86 movie would've been like if the focus was on the entire original cast? If it was Optimus Prime and company who went on that cosmic journey and destroyed Unicron? Like the 20th anniversary DVD shows. Have you ever thought what could've been? P.S. Not that there's anything wrong with the '86 movie, this is just a what if And if this is in the wrong place, could the mods move this please.
Still in the movie thread, so I see no need to switch boards. Idk, I would've prefered that over the new bots. If they wanted to sell new toys, either introduce them to the show another way or just make them toy only.
No. Because '86's entire plot is predicated on a changing of the guard. Besides, it's a good life lesson for kids. "Your heroes don't stick around forever. They fucking die. They get shot and their eyes explode and they turn grey and turn to dust and they fucking die. Now go to sleep, little Billy."
I prefer to imagine that the Autobots who die STILL die, though - and that other existing Autobots would be slotted into the places of the '86 cast.: Hot Rod = Bumblebee as the Youthful Appeal Character Ultra Magnus = Jazz as the Experienced Leader Figure (since Ironhide, Prowl, and Ratchet would all still have been killed off) Kup = Trailbreaker as the Old Fart (since Brawn would be dead too; yeah, I know at one point Trailbreaker was storyboarded to die, and that I'm cheating by using confirmed onscreen deaths - I don't give a hoot) Springer = Inferno as Mr. Macho (again, Ironhide and Brawn, either of whom could otherwise have filled this capacity, would be dead) Arcee = Moonracer as the Chickbot (yeah, Firestar would probably be a more likely candidate given Inferno, but that's the artist in me trying to break up the colors of the group...and having Chromia flirting with Bumblebee would be all kinds of awkward what with her steady just having been killed on the shuttle...) Wheelie = Devcon, as a fellow prisoner of the Quintessons who escapes with Bumblebee and Trailbreaker That leaves Wreck-Gar, and I'm not sure who could be used in his place.
It's true though. People rail against violence in kid's shows and movies, but it wouldn't be an issue if there were actually consequences to all the fighting. "They fucking die" is a good way to do that.
