I had picked up the DotM mechtech bumblebee from universal studios some months ago, before the ss release of the modern camaro. Was gonna use him as the stand in o my movie shelf until the aforementioned ss release. So my idea is to turn him into a custom. Specifically a custom “g1-esque” smokescreen. Favorite car of all time and favorite bot of all time. Seems like the perfect fit. The movie bee figure even has a lot of the G1 Datsun bot mode in his design, front bumber chest, door wings, head popping out from hood.

My main issues are paint and head design. Also given the whole mechtech gimmick, he can even have his shoulder cannons. What does everyone think? I might even do a alt mode digi bash to show my idea. (It will probably be done in the forza horizon 4 video game)

 

I think we should see a digibash so we fully understand.

 

Are we talking about the leader class one with electronics, cyberfire or nitro version?

This is a terrible digibash but it was done 20 minutes after waking up on a free phone app.

 

I think it could work as a movie style Smokescreen.

Tbh I think it could work too. The lines in the forza digibash could be applied on the toy and I think that'd be cool but I'm also somewhat of a sucker for customs, army building and smokescreen.

 

Thanks. Do you have any opinions on the style of head I should go with? More g1? More bay movie? Maybe try knight movie?

 

That's really up to you. I know you want G1 esque but tbh I suck at painting let alone anything more complicated. If you go more G1 than in my opinion it needs the head fins like all the Datsun brothers have. If you go movie or knight than you can make it like you want since the only Smokescreen in the Bayverse is a redeco of Jazz, which isn't an accurate look but you would want it to be recognizable as Smokescreen aside from the obvious color scheme and number.

 

That’s why I mentioned knight-verse. The cybertron scene in the beginning was g1 esque movie. Like here’s ironhide and ratchet.

They are both very g1 but also have that movie vibe. Like prime as well. Ratchet even has the head crest. My thing is in stuck because the body of the camaro bumblebee is still bayverse. Do you think a head, sorta like ratchet’s, would work with DotM bee body.

sure I want something that’s recognizable as smokescreen but I don’t wanna not be happy with it.

even the jazz head isn’t terrible but it would have to look like the Studio series release because the 07 jazz head was terrible. Hell the head fins went the wrong direction on 07 toy.

edit: maybe I could do something like a modified jazz head. Like a fusion of g1 Smokey and 07 movie jazz.

 

Tbh I think that the Ratchet head from knight-verse would be the best G1 esque look and my apologies since I haven't seen that movie yet.

also that movie is worth watching. I believe it’s available for streaming on either Netflix or hulu. That opening cybertron scene is really good.
