Seems from comments many copies can do it. Mine can.

I haven't transformed him yet; I've only transformed Star Saber's inner robot to make sure that that notch for the tab was there.

So what the hell is the 'toy position' people mention?

Everything seems to be ok with my V.S. copy for the most part. The gold on the chests had some minor scratching but it's nothing really noticeable unless I'm looking right at it up close. The only other issue is the crotch on Victory Leo not tabbing fully flush making the autobot logo look split in half but it's not what I would call a deal breaker. Even my Micromasters seem to be ok.

If I want to get nitpicky, the one thing I can see becoming a problem over time is that clear plastic stand. I tried to set Victory Saber on it in vehicle mode and I was scared the arm would break under all that weight over time. Clear plastic aside, it really needed a secondary support arm to strengthen the main display arm.

Paint/chrome overspray on mine, a paint chip on Victory Leo's one cannon, the right foot getting stuck and needing sanded, etc. The common issues, but nothing terrible. I'll call it a win in my book.

In all fairness to them, it's because there's no China factory at work to help offset the burden. When China was more or less removed from the situation (and current world events where they're not receiving much in the way of orders), Vietnam and India had to pick up the slack, especially Vietnam.

    Doubt.

    This.

These poor folks are most likely ready to collapse most days and here we are with our hands out asking "Please sir, may I have more?" It's a wonder the figures turn out the way they do. They could be a heck of a lot worse. A lot worse.

Just noticed my Starsaber has a minor scratch on his faceplate after the light hit it right, looking dead on and in relatively normal lighting it’s invisible but I don’t know if that was from play on my part because I’ve handled him a lot since I got him going between the modes or it was always there and never noticed until now. I have no doubt that I will be able to get it chromed up when Toyhax put out a set for this if a faceplate sticker is included so I’m not bothered about it really.

The finger should point solely at Hasbro and their executives and shareholders because the rush and the pressure are ultimately issues of greed, lust for money. Quarterly numbers. Growth of profits. Stock dividends. Oh we only exceeded our forecast by 27%, that's not enough, cut more corners, slash wages, reduce the costs anywhere you can, no plastic windows in the packaging, hire more children, whip the workers, short their paychecks--they probably won't notice! WE NEED MORE MONEY AND WE NEED IT YESTERDAY RAHHHHHHHHH

It's certainly not the fault of the consumer who places an order for the product that is offered and expects that they receive it in good order. And in many cases, these QC problems are a direct result of haste, greed, corner-cutting, and the avaricious parasite class who produce nothing and keep all the windfalls for themselves. So phooey. I personally won't have the conditions of the poor impoverished workers in "wherever" laid at my feet, I'm not the one abusing them and riding on their shoulders to make an easy buck without doing any work.

Not QC related, but I bought a bottle of clear gloss nail polish hoping to top coat the chrome on Victory Saber. I was smart enough to test it out on some vac-metal from some junk parts first, and found out if you wipe the nail polish off after applying (like if you think you messed up and wanna start over) it strips whatever coloring was placed on the vac metal. The part I tested it on also had gold chrome, and lucky it did or I never would have knew about this. Think I might just be extra careful with the chrome or use something like a gloss top-coat spray instead. Figure I should mention this in case anyone has the same idea.

You realize TakaraTomy also uses these same people for their figures too right? Shouldn't they also get some of the blame for this?

I've noticed that plugging Saber into the V-Star for vehicle mode had begun chipping away at the chrome paint. I went over with some liquid chrome and it seemed to help but man this is why I hate chrome paint

It is the fault of the consumer, though, to some degree. During the pandemic's height, we bought more than we ever had before. Companies rushed to meet demand, even though COVID was running rampant. There's a robot by the name of Loona, and in the crowdfund update, they mentioned the Zero COVID policy being removed and nearly 9 people on their team immediately came down with COVID causing them to delay further shipments for the time being. People were complaining, still, and wanting their stuff right now. Had to have it right this instant.

Are we the ones holding a gun to their heads? No. Are we complicit at all? Yes. By being the demand side of supply and demand, we're absolutely at fault to some degree and it does indeed lay at our collective feet. But, I'm fair, it also gives them a livelihood and a way to live and feed their families, so it's a mix of good and bad. The only ones truly evil and corrupt in all of this are Hasbro, Takara-Tomy, and their shareholders. I'll grant you that.

The thing is, there is no such person as "the consumer." We are not this nebulous aggregate whole made up of everyone with all of us responsible for what all of us do. We are all individuals and individuals are responsible for their own behavior. I can tell you I have done my best not to treat anyone that way, and I have great contempt for the stereotypical 40-year-old manlet with no respect who does the type of thing you're talking about. But I also do not feel any responsibility for his behavior. And if demand for figures increased to a point where compromises were made by the producers to meet it, I am not responsible for that, either. I see a figure, I want the figure, they can produce enough that I get one, or not. Overall, in pretty much every market, the single most corrupting force is the people who purchase excessively and beyond what they actually want and need because they know that they can grill the people who missed out later. Call it scalping, call it reselling, call it an investment, the moral color of it varies depending on a lot of different variables and circumstances, but when a participant in the market attempts to buy dozens of a product that's just released--where most people are buying 1 or 2 tops--with the intention of hoarding them and then reselling them for a profit to the poor folks who missed out later, they are basically acting as a pernicious and cancerous element who inflict unhappiness and extract value while contributing nothing except artificial (and often unnecessary) liquidity.

This one got me, too, and I was crushed. I don't even know if it's a QC issue, I think it's more of a bad-idea issue. I don't think I did anything wrong. It's a hell of a high stakes transformation step for such an expensive and difficult-to-replace toy.

I did that gold-foil-tape-cutout trick that someone re-posted here from a Malaysian fan group and now it looks good-as-new (better, actually) so it wasn't the worst thing that could have gone wrong, but it will be a little while before I re-visit that Star Saber jet mode.

One of the hip ratchets is just slightly off or there is mold flash somewhere, because one leg is slightly forward of the other in the straight up position. One click foward or back, just fine, straight legged not.

Had the same problem on my copy. Fix is quoted here. No disassembly required, but spinning that joint around is a serious pain in the ass. Good luck! :thumb
