i agree they are committed to this thing and i am glad they are. i was just saying if there is any photoshop, it'd be a bad argument (edit: for) knocking this thing considering marketing has photoshop often...especially with figures.

I think the question is whether the four million in sales covers the associated costs, which if I understand correctly scale with volume. In short, it may somehow be more expensive per unit to produce 5000 as opposed to 8000, in which case the $4M in sales to 5000 units may not necessarily produce adequate profits. I could be wrong though, as I'm flat out speculating at this point.

At this stage I am waiting for this to be cancelled, and maybe I will buy Zeta's... but most likely, I will buy a G1 repaint of Armada Unicron.
Those calfs and that backpack are inexcusable.

Armada is way cheaper and still has less kibble. I think after seeing what another company did for much cheaper is kinda like well......

But I thought they said in multiple interviews with Hasbro, that this is a one time thing

I bet Fans Toys will reveal some version in the near future, and it might be the best looking and price.

    Yea, because
    A: it doesn’t turn into a sphere
B: you have to completely remove the planet shell

I was thinking to comment more in the vein of "I wouldn't count on it."

You're not wrong in pointing out that Hasbro can always go ahead and re-release this figure if they want to, even if they say they won't.

But one should be extremely reluctant to assume that Hasbro will make such a future re-release, given their assertions that they won't.

To be fair, the "much cheaper" price tag on Zeta's is probably in no small part due to the substantially smaller business overhead and size. Both are decent designs, but I definitely understand how people could make a face at the idea of a $600 gigantic toy that doesn't look as clean as Zeta's. I mean, arguably something as big as Haslab's would have more space to store its kibbles and bits. I'm not designer or materials man though, so I have no idea if that's the right mindset to take.

Re-releasing would also discredit the idea of a crowdfunded special event.

That’s why their only making enough for the ppl that crowdfunded the toy. Unicron won’t go into production til they reach 8000 backers and then they’ll make enough for those ppl only.

That’s the whole point in crowdfunding

Taking the other side for the moment (because I essentially agree with you), if the re-release is far enough down the road, and especially if it has some meaningful change from the HasLab version, an important part of that discrediting can be averted.

I would also expect that such a future release, even if it happened, would be even more expensive than this one, not less, but I admit that this is all highly speculative about something I think unlikely to happen anyway.

Armada Unicron is horrible compared to this. What? It's rather droll just how far people will go to convince themselves not to spend the money.

If anything it would be 3 times the price of this at the same size, if not smaller.
