A small point of order if I may... I highly doubt anyone will be able to woosh this monster about in one hand and even with two hands, wooshing it about is likely to put your back out. He's a big mamma-jamma!!
Won't stop me from trying though.

Oooo. Yes they are. Have one myself. And I certainly wouldn’t be wooshing Clyde around with one hand. He’s small for a Maine Coone and he’s big enough to wrestle our beagle.

Also a big ass sphere vs a quadruped.

Looking back at the pics of this in planet mode it’s HUGE.

True, however it depends on the quadruped my cat curls into a ball when held or sometimes goes ragdoll so most of his weight is dead weight at that time, but yeah Unicron will be heavy, like a bowling ball but much bigger

I wouldn't even go that far.

Zeta has engineering, period. Maybe not genius, but the effort is obvious, a commendable job. There's always room for improvement on placements, it's not end-all/be-all perfection by any means.

Haslab/Takara has the "engineering" skills I did when I was a kid, making my own Transformers from LEGO. Even then, I was conscientious of where parts had to move to form a bot that didn't look like a pile of random LEGO blocks from the back or sides. Stuff would fold into itself, rotate. I never made shellformers, or partsformers, no backpacks. I should have Polaroids of my creations somewhere. I only made 2 full bots, an Autobot and a Decepticon, complete with homemade faction and face stickers.

Just look how giddy Hasbro is because the maw actually moves, as if that was a feat of engineering! Ridiculous.

My cat might not weigh as much as unicron but he forms a ball just like unicron.

Huh. I really thought we'd have stopped seeing this idea by now. Ignoring Weijiang upsizing the Bayformers evasion mould, or MP-10 into MPP-10, or the upsized KO's of MP Bumblebee, Ironhide, Starscream...
Lewin Resources (who aren't even a regular manufacturer of Transforming toys) took the 24 cm MP-10 mould and upsized it to 71cm!!! That's more than 3.5 times the height, and heaps more in terms of bulk/mass.
Upsizing will require tweaks to joints, plastic thickness, screws, and connectors, and definitely changes to tolerances but it's really not that hard to do, especially if your the company that originally came up with the design and therefore have the CAD files. Going smaller, now that's tricky because suddenly the hinges and armatures and connectors may not be physically large enough to manufacture, but even that's been done reasonably often.
Zeta's size isn't due to any physical limitation. It's a conscious decision they made to aid playability and make manipulating and moving parts easier.
It;s nbot a decision I'm necessarily happy with but I can make it work. But it's almost guaranteed that there's nothing in the design that makes it inherently unable to enlarge.

Edit: and just in case it matters, I'm getting both

I don't recall Hasbro acting like that was a feat of engineering, they're just treating it as an exciting play feature. They should talk up every play feature, since in reality this is a big ass toy for children (or at least man-children) and it should have play features.

If I could turn back time ......

It was extremely unwise for Pulse to allow cancellation, because the number is going backwards.

Holy crap. I ordered from EB Games before the last deadline and you know, I hadn't even noticed the line about being charged when the product was delivered?!?
I had to scramble to make sure there was enough on my Credit Card to allow it to be charged on the 31st August, and it turns out I won't have to pay till 2021!! This just gets better and better.
The ironic part? I can now use the money I'd scraped together to pay for Hasbro's to buy Zeta's, and can worry about Hasbro's in 2021!! Yay!!

To think. I wasn't even excited about Hasbro's because I didn't think I'd be able to get it. Thanks to the post's on this board I not only found out where to get it, I also know I don't have to pay for years!!! WooHoo!!!

HASBRO... please parts form Unicron. Give us the option to take the kibble and backpack off, if we so choose.

Now that would be news to give the crowd fund a boost.

I really kind of dig the idea that you could remove the planet shells from Unicron, assemble them into a separate hollow planet and still display Unicron's bot mode beside it.
Kind of like the Power of the Primes Optimus where you could remove a few screws and then display both Optimus and Orion at the same time.

That would suddenly make the $600 price a stunningly good deal - two figures for that price.
Who knows, once I get it in hand, if it's just a couple of pieces, I may try and cobble something together.
I guess the wings/ring will be the dealbreaker on that though.

Wouldn't you need extra rings for that? But that does sound pretty cool.

Sorry no way. That's too good of an idea for Haslab to consider. Bring it down a few notches.
