And, really, isn't it true that the the new movies are just a way to keep the general idea of transformers hip for the new trend of geeks who like to put decepticon badges on their cars and think it's "cool" to be recognized?
Oh boy I guess you never have looked into the Godzilla or Gundam fandom if you want true exploitation pfft hahaha.
$600 for a solid pvc plastic Godzilla that just sits there with cheap Mattel level of detail/paint.
So...........I'm getting kinda nervous about this. I have the funds to pay for this but I just looked at it, it's only at 2492, thought it'd be much further along then this. I feel like there's no point putting my money down on it if it's still needs a whole bunch of other people and it's only 17 days away. Maybe there's a bunch of people that are thinking like me that'll bump up the numbers but idk at this point. Maybe they shoulda opened it up to everybody?
I'm in the middle of basically purging my entire Chug collection besides maybe a few, this is something I really want though.
Okay? Still nothing to do with anything I said.
If there is anything I leaned from the crowd funding campaign for the barge is that anything can happen. Even in 17 days.
The barge jumped 5,000 in the last 6 days, and retailers haven’t ordered it yet. I’d say this will get funded based on that.
And, really, you should have figured out by now that I am only responding like this because you had a "well, actually..." moment and insist on responding every time I ramble in gibberish.
The Star Wars Jabba's Sail Barge, the first HasLab project. Needed 5000 backers to get made. Sat at ~3000 for 95% of its existence, jumped over 5000 on its final day for almost 9000 total backers in the end of it.
This is the normal trajectory for crowdfunding initiatives with a high buy-in. The first surge will come in the first few days, for the enthusiastic fans with a forgiving budget. Everybody else takes until the last minute to make their decisions or get the money together. Additionally, a number of international web sites are offering proxy services for countries that HasLab can't serve directly. Orders through these services won't be tallied until the end, either.
Jabba's sail barge, likely a third of the tangent conversation and what people use as a barometer for success in this thread.
You know, despite the epic size & scale of this new Unicron, I can't help but miss the simpler, crazy, this piggy-never-went-to-market days of ...
EPIC CHRISTMAS PUDDING MAN!
Ah yes. Didn't know that was a crowd funding thing. I entered to try to win that thing on Ript Apparel. I didn't even want it but it's Star Wars, I figured I could make a few bucks selling it. Didn't win of course.
I would 100% buy this for my G1 collection
$500. will buy alot of G1 figures , or some nice stuff. It is a great figure but dont forget this is a billion dollar company that really could make this without the fans paying big money ...
Hasbro didn't become a billion dollar company by being a charity.
Why do people act like Hasbro owes them something?
17 days to get 5508 additonal backers (2492 of 8000 pre-orders as of August 14th)
Because compared to other fandoms, the Transformers Fandom is fairly cheap and tight fisted. Champagne taste but want to pay Beer money. Reminds me of when I waited tables a long time ago, you would ge t people who would ask for water with lemon......and then make their own free lemonade
...nah mate, wait until there are two days left to get a better assessment: majority crowdfunding always comes at the campaign's eleventh hour...
