it's only money once it's spent you can forget how much it cost
Things I hate about this whole thing:
1. The price.
2. The size.
3. The infighting that it’s caused here.
4. Being charged for something I won’t receive for 18-24 months.
5. The way that it’s been positioned by Hasbro as a valiant crusade/obligation on the fans instead of the transaction that it is.
Despite all that I AM IN. I ultimately rationalized it to myself with the hope I could sell and at least breakeven if I change my mind. But ultimately, I’m not just viewing this as the purchase of a hunk of plastic. This thread has given me so much entertainment over the past few weeks with all of the hope, despair and arguing. I’m buying a ticket for this train, and I hope Hasbro makes it interesting. That means lots of updates and exclusives for buyers and hopefully some bonuses. Fingers crossed.
I also figured out that if I’m going to back it, may as well do it now to help mitigate the chicken littles.
Seems like they have opened the orders for China. Hitting 8000 backers (the same collective 8000) in 3... 2... 1...
Nice! Anything on the Haslab page change? There might be some backer only stuff.
Not as far as I can see. Does anyone know if they added a backer page or newsletter for the Barge?
The barge page shows everything but not sure if that was hidden during the whole process.
We must consult the Barge Backers!
Yeah when I think about something like the MST3K Kickstarter campaign, I feel like Joel Hodgson was writing updates to backers almost on a weekly basis at times. Something like that would be cool. Also maybe there’s not that much to say here. “Yep... we’re still making it...”
1. With ya
2. With ya
3. It's silly right? Back it or don't back it, it's just a toy!
4. Yeah...but that's just how crowdfunding works..I'm waiting on something I paid for last year and was supposed to be shipped in March...here I am still waiting. At least Hasbro should meet their delivery date....I hope!
5. It's all part of the marketing, they want you to back it so they'll pull whatever underhand, heartstring tugging, fear of missing out stoking tricks they see fit to get your pledge. It gross but it's to be expected.
Ultimately I'm totally fine with this new way of getting figures that may otherwise be commercially unviable to market...but let's not pretend Hasbro are doing us any favours here or are on some sort of altruistic quest to make our wildest dreams come true...this is the best way for them to ensure a sizeable profit on what would be a very risky figure to put out otherwise, simple as that. Pay your money. take your choice.
Don't be surprised if a reissue happens after this crowd fund since they would have everything set after the first batch
They should offer Pulse Premium to backers for life. That would be a good reward, and pretty fair given the expense.
if they do a reissue that isnt crowdfunded then that will be the death of haslab, there will be no incentive to back future projects if theyre just going to be made available after the fact so everyone will operate under the assumption that they'll be able to buy it later and not back it. that wouldn't make any sense for them to do unless its crowd funded just like the first run and if its not for years down the road
If there's a reissue it is unlikely to be any time soon. Like I said before it's more likely they'll revisit the mould later...maybe for a future anniversary with a new deco and some different/new accessories. Thus making it different enough to claim they are not reissuing the Haslabs figure. If made I honestly can't see this being the one and only time this mould is ever put to market...but they are gonna want to leave it a few years to protect the validity of Haslabs like @tigatron2002 says.
I really wish the photos of the planet mode would be taken off the carousel on the main page...it's really making it difficult for me to maintain my will power!
also opened to the uk/europe through tfs-express
They'd have to do a reissue of the Sail Barge too.
Seems unlikely that more than a couple people would go through the pre-authorization charges simply to troll.
All of this simply ignores the infrastructure required for what would be an exponentially even smaller run - setting up the factory production, setting up the packaging and then the shipping logistics (especially for any international outlets) not just to their hub but then to individual customers, since no retailer will devote money or space for something of this size and expense.
Yeah, it's not happening, but keep flying that denial flag!!
Our local toy/hobby stores have already started taking reservations for Unicron too. Some even offer a downpayment of $100 then the rest will be payable on December. That gives people enough time to save up to pay the full amount. Total price is around $785 but that includes already shipping from China to the Philippines. Unicron will be sourced thru China distribution for us.
If they charge 2x the price, then limit it to 4000 pieces, what's different than what's happening now? (Rhetorical: nothing.)
Nobody said anything about retail space. HasbroPulse bypasses B&M. And that's really not much different from Amazon/EE/BBTS/etc exclusives. Only only sales, limited runs.
Never denied anyone anything as I hope this goes through. I do think it has a realistic chance of that happening, so if they make more, more to go around. If it doesn't happen, works for me.
