Decided to tackle the next project.
Never liked the 8-pack on unicron and always thought it should be a 6 like the movie. Here we go

My first outline of the ab area. Will work with what's there as much as possible (ie. existing red abs, line work in that area) but try to delete the top row of abs and make this piece a slip in.

Not that it doesn't look good already, but what if you just created a piece to fit over the top two red segments?

    Thanks appreciate that
But let's be honest it looks like crap :)

I'll take a closer look at your idea. Don't think there is enough there for a piece to stay on the ab section themselves. Maybe with tack?!

    Gave it a go.
Needs some adjustments for sizing amongst other things. I don't think there will be anything for it to latch on to (but that might be a problem with the larger version as well). I like that the mod is minimal. Let's see where it goes

    Version 4.2
Think I'm close to being done. May add some more line work, perhaps some minor adjustments to the fit. Some big realizations on this project.

the paint inside unicrons abs is very very light. I took a closer look and see minor paint scratches inside. I've since lightly sanded the edges of the piece and think that will solve the problem.

also I tried to purchase a filament that would match closely to the colour. That said it will always be off. So will look for a paint that's better suited.

    Here's a pic

Ok. Tried to colour match. Used a bright orange acrylic matte paint. Didn't come out like I thought it would. Anyone have a recommendation for a spray/aerosol based paint?

also went back to my original idea of a full ab piece. Take a look. Do you guys like the 2-ab cover or the full cover?

I would prefer an Option C where you make an ab cover but the abs go higher up. Make 6 abs in the same space as the 8 of them.

I understand @Sam's idea, and that's the ideal, but that'd be a solid print to fit right over the section.

So, to keep with the idea of a simple piece...

My view is the smaller piece, assuming you can get a to-the-naked-eye 100%match on colour.

If you can only get 90% there, the full piece would work better for defining the piece and not sticking out like a sore thumb.

Someone on the thread mentioned krylon Montana gold but I can't seem to source it in Canada. I'll have to make another trip to the store to see if there's something better then what I already tried. I'm feeling that there will be no 100% match. So leaning towards the full piece.

The spray paint you’re referring to is called Montana and they have a line called Gold which is a very high quality spray paint with a lot of colors.

Not sure if they gave you the specific color name, but that would be helpful since they do have a lot of colors and they don’t necessarily match the screen color.

Google “Montana Gold Spray Paint Canada” and you’ll find online sellers and maybe a local shop who sells it. It is expensive since it’s for higher end art projects. Good luck.
