    Don't mention it!

It was good to have a task to work at for somebody. :thumbs2:

I love how Unicron looks in those photos!

Makes me think of a Rob Zombie album cover.

I think I've seen enough to tell me that the eyes themselves will make for a better light source(s) than behind the forehead (like the Etsy kit).
The eye movement feature will be visable too - extra creepy?

I mght consider a layer of paint on the inside of the face plate too if it doesn't look like the translucent parts are adding to the light bleed.

so many truths spoken , hasbro investors are rubbing their hands together with the huge profits on these , always thought they must be racking in the interest on the money sitting there

I somewhat agree with what he's saying here, but I'd like to see his math on how Hasbro is making $1200 interest on $400 over 12-18 months.

Yup, I'm still cranky about the maw on my Unicron and it's definitely causing me to stay away from Haslab. But hearing that the Sentinel also has trouble posing because of bad joints just makes me want to stay away even more. If Hasbro is asking for that much money up front, the product has to be a lot better.

His understanding of how interest works in laughable. $4m becomes $12m after 18 months due to compound interest? LOL. If they could make 200% gains every year and a half, Hasbro would be in the banking game and never make another toy again.

... When a wet noodle develops self awareness and whines for 30 minutes for a product he would have bought for the same price had it just not been in kickstarter format.

Boy, he sure showed Hasbro by not buying their HasLab stuff and putting that money towards buying... other Hasbro stuff.

And there was no risk. If the campaigns don't hit their target numbers, they don't collect your money. And the folks who have filed claims for defective Unicrons have shown that Hasbro was very supportive in getting replacement pieces sent out.

Why do some people insist on believing that HasLab is out to screw the consumer over by taking your money and disappearing into the night? And Cookie Monster and [I still argue Unicron] demonstrate that these large items are not a surefire success. But the people who pledged to the Cookie Monster campaign weren't out any money, they just received the disappointment of being told they got to keep their money because Cookie Monster wasn't getting made.

This isn't the 80's, there's a reason really large and extremely expensive toys aren't on the shelves anymore at WalMart and Target and... well, those are about all that're left, isn't it? And if those two aren't supporting a company's big, expensive toys, well, it's up to the fans, isn't it?

Spence and MAAS Toys were a risk, HasLab was a minor inconvenience of paying up front and waiting a year and a half.

Edit. Also, Sentinel knee improved upon:

So we actually could have gotten a colored box if Hasbro wanted to make it colored…. All well.

What's the sentinels box dimensions? I can't imagine it's a full cube like uni was? Maybe they saved a bit there and spent it on a colour make over?

I will still take cost savings over a pretty box.

Not sure but it is taller. The Barge was a comparable size to Unicron and was still fully colored as well. It most likely has nothing to do with actual cost.
Colored box wouldn’t effect Unicron’s price, and would save mere dollars or pennies on Hasbro’s end. They simply chose not to have it for some reason.

We've already been over this. Full-color gloss printing is actually VERY expensive. Getting Unicron's box printed could easily cost $50. All of Unicron's budget went into his development instead.

The other HasLab projects had more leeway in their budget allotments, since the actual toys themselves weren't as costly.

I have also been over this and pointed out how I could have easily ordered 11,000 colored boxes for unicron that are no where near as expensive because this shit gets cheaper the more you make. More boxes=cheaper. Idk why it ls so hard to admit they simply chose to not color it. Just like their uncolored boring selects packaging.

Shit gets cheaper when you make more because you subsidize the overhead. Printing materials are not overhead. They're material cost. And magazine-quality print is expensive.

The best you'll get is a service discount on large orders.

I've personally dealt with bulk print orders before. I could easily drop $500-600 CDN on a set of industrial CAD drawings, maybe 100-150 34"×22" sheets in total. And that's just laserjet quality, on basic paper stock. 90-95% black and white.

Even if you could knock it down to $20-30 a box instead of my above ballparked $50, that's still $200,000 that could instead go to tooling development, and Unicron's budget was certainly min-maxed to hell.
