I don't remember the timing of the MP releases since I don't collect Masterpiece, but I do remember people complaining about it, so at least that much of my recollection matches yours.

For me, any other releases at the time didn't have much to do with it; I simply didn't have the budget for something that expensive out of my normal funds. The only reason I ended up being able to back at all is because the extension took me past our company's bonus announcement date. Once I knew what I was getting, I was able to put aside the money for him. But before that it would have been a no-go. I think I was in a fairly unique situation though, I don't remember anyone else posting similarly. It's been a long couple of years and my memory's a bit fuzzy though.

Well, I take back everything bad I’ve ever said about Hasbro.
My HasLab Unicron, pre-ordered through a retailer here in Australia, had a small flaw when it arrived (two “left” panels on the shins, instead of a right and left). It still posed and transformed fine, but looked a little off.
I emailed Hasbro Pulse, Hasbro Australia, Hasbro US, even the local retailer asking if I could get a replacement piece sent out to fix it. Heard nothing so wrote it off as a lost cause, not that surprising considering I’m in a different country.
A few weeks later, I receive an email from the VP of Global Customer Care saying they’d send me a replacement piece.
“Wow” I thought, “that’s good service”
Imagine my surprise today, when I received, not a small envelope containing the missing leg panel, but this. Apparently, by “replacement piece”, they meant “replacement figure”.
Blown away by this.
Amazing, and totally unexpected, response from the team at Hasbro.

Weird thing is I bought as a Pre-order from a local retailer not through the Hasbro Pulse Crowd-Fund, and I never actually gave Hasbro my mailing address… maybe the local retailers passed on the details of all pre-orders to the folks at Hasbro?

Hasbro Australia are genuinely good people who consistently go the extra mile to look after their customers.

My opinion of how Hasbro USA operate swings wildly, but I have a very high opinion of their Australian branch.

I'm happy for you, that your Unicron story appears to have a happy ending.

Nothing was said about that. It’s around $100 to ship a Unicron locally so if they want me to ship mine back they would have advised me… and it’s a bit late for that.

I’m still kind of floored. Even feel a little weirdly guilty, even though I’ve done nothing actually wrong. But definite props to Hasbro Aus.

LOL. No way I would have room for that. Besides, I already sold the original - that’s how I found out there was a problem. Buyer opened it, found the issue and contacted me. We both reached out to Hasbro, with no response, and I even lined up an overseas collector on the boards here who had the opposite issue and was keen to swap parts, but the buyer didn’t want to muck around and demanded a quick resolution. I gave them a partial refund (which wiped out the minuscule profit I made on the sale) and they were happy.
Hasbro eventually responded to my message and now I have a new Unicron. After the hassles from the first sale I think I might just keep this one. It was not just the part but the ridiculous high cost of shipping, fees from PayPal and eBay etc. Never selling through eBay again, just a horrible experience for a seller, though great for a buyer.
But all told, it turned into an amazingly positive experience from Hasbro.

Official, in/for Asia. But that was like 3 years ago when I inquired.

Will you be selling this one as well? Or will you keep it as a token of your newfound appreciation for Hasbro? I mean, you definitely won't be out any money selling this one whenever you decide to sell it later on. 

 

I received this LED kit I ordered from Etsy and installed into Unicron's head today. Works pretty well and looks great. Hasbro should have done a light up eye feature instead of the weird eyeball rotating gimmick in the first place.
