Scalping is going be a good thing in this situation. It will provide more opportunities for post campaign purchases, and help keep aftermarket prices lower. If no one invests in units for resale, the few units available from those selling for other reasons will be really high.

"Crowdfunding" IS the only way to get this figure, correct.
Chances of it getting released again are little to none. There's never going to be a second run anywhere near the size of this initial run, and the costs of setting up another run coupled with the logistics of something this size, would make it tough to justify/handle additional runs.

Why would it change after the 8,000 is reached? There's no maximum limit of pieces, only a minimum.

 

I normally don't buy multiples for my collection, and I keep almost everything I bought. But for once, I am considering buying a 2nd, whether it be insurance on a defect, reselling later to cover the cost, or a 2nd chance for a collector friend if they really want one but missed the chance. Like you said, for once, being a 'scalper' is actually a good thing this time, and help push more units to make this project a reality.

 

I would even go as far to say investing with the hope to resell in this sort of situation is definitely not scalping. A major aspect of scalping is removing supply from the target customers of the scalpers. This isn't buying up stock from the stores before others have a chance, this is outright increasing the stock. More like a traditional middleman than what is usually labeled as scalping.

 

I know quite a few people who bought the max when it came to sail barges. This isn’t like rushing into a store at opening and buying all that’s on the shelf. Buy away! I’ve done two, might do a third.

 

Though this is easier said than done. Having the cash to buy 5 Unicrons is already a tall order. Imagine the wife's face when she sees not 1, but 5 giant boxes almost as big as a person sitting in the living room.

That aside, I am seriously consider getting 2, be it defect insurance, resell, or for a friend.

Yeah the stand looks solid . I wonder what kind of connection it is though for the figure in both modes . Hopefully it’s something like a port adapter.

 

in planet mode the hasbro website says he is 33.291 inches tall. Which sucks because my perfect spot is only 33”. My back up area is a little tight on width.

Ideally he could be mounted from the ceiling. However the thought of looking for ceiling studs and it’s ramifications make me cringe
