The instruction booklet is 32 pages long and he says if he follows the instructions it takes him 50 minutes to complete. Wow!

Man this thing is so cool. It was super fun to see some progress, I'm really glad that I backed him. That said, the gravity of this purchase is really starting to hit home, this dude is BIG, like really BIG and it really sinks in when someone is holding him like a medicine ball lol.

Is there some legal reason they consistently use "convert" instead of "transform" I wonder? Or just to avoid redundancy?

That color of plastic on the wings in update #3 seems to be just the right shade of yellow to me. I just hope it isn't like, lemon yellow like my eyes tend to see in most pics.

God I can't wait for this thing.

Also, they refer to answering questions in forums, do they mean these forums here? Facebook page??

Curious what the final shade will be, yeah. Digging the wing shade myself, but clearly they need to match plastics better still and are working at that.

The orangey-yellow pieces looks a lot better than the plain yellow pieces.

IIRC it's for legal reasons. If the act of turning the toy from one mode to another is referred to as "transforming", and other companies start using that verb in the same way for their own toys, it weakens Hasbro's hold on the Transformers name since it becomes genericized. Same reason Nintendo was so adamant about making sure people knew the NES was a "video game console" instead of a "Nintendo".

As for Unicron, it's great to see that the faceplates are confirmed to be molded in transparent plastic. When the designer pulled the planet out of the box and held it I was floored. I know we've already seen Unicron next to cats and people but something about this grown man holding him like a ball really made the size of this thing hit home for me. He big.

Agree totally about the wings color, but I'm concerned about the apparent color mismatch with the rest (like the spikes), which are noticeably more yellow.

Edit: My bad, they address that color mismatch in the video (~3:39) -- they'll be working to improve it for the next sample! :rock

They did mention in the video that the colors are not matched yet. :)

They did mention that which is encouraging for the pieces matching, of course they will match in the end. It is discouraging however that she kept calling it yellow, which makes me think it's not going to be getting a little orange shift in the final color some of us were hoping for. BUT... I mean none of those pieces are even close to yellow in the first place. Even if they don't match yet they're all shades of orange. Maybe they're calling it yellow but going towards some sort of orange color anyway. We'll see what happens. I'd like it still a bit on the yellow side so we don't run into a super saturated orange like that one other Unicron figure has. But a tinge more orange is nice.

I wonder too if the inside of the planet mouth might end up with some color (I don't think it really needs it but I wouldn't complain). I like the paint job on the Autobot shuttle.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping they would point out which color is what they had in mind for the final color, but maybe not of those colors are quite final yet.

Need all you Americans to get on the Pulse forums and tell them to use the wings as their colour scheme.

To be fair, all of those look tonnes better than the yellow that really had me not getting this originally. Soooooo much better in any of those colours
