Not sure why any of these gray prototype pics are news worthy. They’re all from December. The base mode concept showing Unicron’s brain etc. was shown and discussed way back in this post from Dec. 12th:

Is the figure intact? Because the box is just a massive block in the way and a means of sending my figure to me safely.

Now, if you're a MISB collector, well, this was probably the wrong figure to collect in the first place. But if you want to buy my box and pretend it has a Unicron still in it, I'll sell you mine for $200. You know, because it's part of the experience.

Anyway, as has been mentioned, the campaign mentions packaging like any of the selects. Much like any other detail no one read about this campaign, if you expected otherwise, well, that's on you.

All I ever wanted was a G1 Unicron, a fitting toy for him. Yes, there can be gripey nitpicks like the kibble and the maw potentially among other things. And we have also seen some very dark black magic done like Dragoon and Challenger, but I'm VERY excited for a official unicron, one tall enough to be fitting for chug. Don't get me wrong, it probably could be better, but human error will always be a thing and perfection often elusive, so long as I can get a cool display of him going and have fun with him along with some funny pics, I'm satisfied with what I'll be getting.

10 minutes in a box editor looks better than their selects packaging....

(should I continue on making an actual box for it? If Hasbro won't I might as well)

The figure looks great from the front, but that transformation is hideous. There's literally a part of the sequence where his shell his hanging off him in strips and all I can think is it looks like a half-peeled egg.

I don't think there's any dispute that they could've made a ''nice'' box. Personally, I'm glad not to pay extra for packaging, considering it's not a ''vintage'' type figure.

Looking at the current cost in the box editor, ordering the same amount as were funded would be about $13.50 per box. This means with Hasbro's extra funds you really wouldn't need to pay extra at all if they had a nice box. Its actually pretty cheap when you factor in the grand total of unicrons sold and that Hasbro is a large company.

This is me here. Couldn't care less about the box. I paid for Unicron, not a box that's just going to go into a closet until I clean it out or the day I die.

They're still much wider than the figure has.

They can eff right off with that "City Mode". That thing looks vulgar, what with his legs splayed open with a big phallic ramp between them as if to say, "Come into me". Gross.

It is just concept art, and that mode was cut from the figure (although I'm sure fans will find a fanmode that's close).

Guess they did eff right off with it then, huh? But you may have some probs if the base mode makes your mind go there with such adversity

I glad that they cut the city mode. I have a hard enough time figuring out why Unicron even needs feet, let alone trying to figure out where he’d find a rocky world large enough to support his weight and why he’d bother to land on one rather than devour it. I love the Planet-formers but they kinda give me a headache.

It does give me serious Spanner vibes though.

Not looking forward to next winter but this figure should brighten the worst of it.

I have kind of a weird question. How many Gen Metroplex/TR Fort Max shoulder lengths wide would you say Unicron is in each mode with the wings/rings?

It'll help me rearrange my bedroom around Unicron.

I see it not as a transformation, as supported by the fiction, but as an alternate "playset" mode that sort of represents the corridors and trenches the Autobots have to fight through inside of him.
