I’m perplexed as to why Haslab struggled to achieve the 8,000 number within the original timeframe.

they gave a short ordering window. The Barge campaign started right after Toyfair and ended in May. Unicron I think started months after TF. Which really came out of nowhere. Poelp were still trying to absorb the item of a $300 Cookie Monster too.

...the initial campaign window also forestalled its last-minute surge by announcing the delay; may have eeked across the finishline regardless...

...if haslab really wants to maximise pledges for their next campaign, they should charge the balance due when the finished product ships rather than when the campaign ends, and sell any cancelled overstock through the hasbro shop...since they already have the money finance production, the crowdfunding campaign only serves to demonstrate demand; they could even charge a non-refundable $100 deposit at the campaign's conclusion to discourage casual pledges...

it didnt, 3p sellers like bbts never placed their orders during the original window, so saying it struggled is a bit of a fallacy. no body but hasbro knows a rough idea of what those numbers were, but its likely that hasbro did legit listen to the fans that were asking for an extension and that they didnt actually need it

Hard to argue they need to change anything when the Barge exceeded the min by 3000 and Unicron (supposedly) by 4000.

With the final numbers I don't think they did, they may have extended it to get more orders.

Personally, I think that if it wasn't extended, Unicron would still have made the minimum threshold of 8,000 orders, and thus by extending Hasbro certainly did "get more orders," but I don't think Hasbro knew that they were going to make that 8,000 minimum had they not extended the deadline. They simply decided not to take the chance that it would fail.

Rumble did the math. That’s why the numbers don’t make any sense.

As someone who purchased 2 copies, I think Hasbro owes us an exact production number. 12,000+ can mean anything.

except hasbro doesnt owe us anything other than the unicrons we ordered and 12000+ cant mean anything, it means that over 12000 were ordered

3P retailers not placing orders at the time of the original window counts toward zero pledges, no?

I’m in agreement with the opinion Hasbro wasn’t certain they would achieve their number & so decided to extend the deadline.

It’s good luck. i.e. Hope in Disguise.

3p retailers not placing their order at the end of the original window didnt happen because the end of the original window didnt happen. they were to place their orders on the last day, hasbro extended before the last day. its more likely they saw an opportunity to make more profit and see if fans asking for an extension would put their money where their mouths are.

I’ve been sensing a huge hole in my life and I couldn’t work out what it is until this thread was bumped. Then I realized. I have a chasm in my soul without the daily arguing about whether Unicron would be funded, whether orange or yellow is better, if Hasbro was faking the numbers, semantics about vendor orders, and - of course - the battle for the ages (Unicron vs Zeta).

None of the arguments since (“is IDW2 good or shit?” “Are you an idiot if you didn’t realize the Seacon preorder window was short?” “Is MP Nemesis Prime worth it?” And even “blue hands or gray hands?”) have come close.

So sad. Hopefully Hasbro notices our pain and gives us something new to fight about soon. Come on guys.

It’s going to be a long wait, but I am so looking forward to the rage when the first person to get this Unicron runs it over with a car.

Honestly, if you are patient, you probably will be able to. You may have to wait a year or more after they are delivered, but once the buzz dies down there is bound to be someone out there selling one below market. You will just have to be very vigilant about searching for that deal. If you are not patient though, you will probably end up paying that $1000+ price.
