Keep in mind that the Barge was set at 5000 units. So that was 3800 over. With Unicron set at 8000 which went over 3200 units.

 

Why is that important to keep in mind?

 

I am just saying that the Barges backing goal was lower then that of Unicron.

 

I think it will be interesting to see the Sail Barge prices in about 6 months when it has been out a year. The etailers basically sold out awhile back. Some big auctions have gone on recently (some hitting over $1500 I believe) but mostly staying around $1000. It seems like with the current solid pricing and some previous big sales that speculators have mostly entered the market and that keeps the market down. Next year we will really start to see how sustainable the price is as the early speculators dry up. None of us can know for certain, but I bet the barge is going to maintain a $1500 price starting sometime mid next year. I suspect Unicron will follow a similar but slower rise. I'm suspecting double price after about a year stays solid. I think etailers probably bought more for their own stock than they did for the barge, and it will take longer to dry up. Of course, this all comes down to how well the figure is received when in hand, and compares to other offerings (official and third party).

 

I think that only reason to keep that in mind would be if the next HasLab project required 11,400 buy-ins at... $800 each.

And at that point, Giant Man better be the same height as either Paul Rudd or Michael Douglass.

I once requested 500 taupe highlighters from our stores department. They replied asking if I really needed so many and suggested I see how long 10 would last. I never knew if they got the joke.

 

Almost a full week since the backing period ended...man this is gonna be a long 15-18 month wait. I say 15-18 because I'm hoping he'll be shipped in January 2021. Maybe best to put Unicron out of sight and mind for now; checking this thread every day will only make the wait worse. Especially since there's nothing more to discuss for now, at least as far as Unicron himself is concerned.

I personally believe there were more Unicrons bought to flip than there were barges. It was the barge's aftermarket price that got people thinking these Haslab projects are a good investment. So you had more people buying duplicates to sell. Given that the Star Wars fandom is bigger than the TF fandom and there are more Unicrons to go around, his aftermarket price shouldn't go as high as the Barge.

 

As we have discussed before in this thread. This a rare instance where people were encouraged to buy however many they wanted regardless of intent. As for aftermarket value, I'd say that the secondary market sellers have already established that $800 isn't unreasonable.

 

It is going to get me my Unicron, so I am cool with it! I imagine if everyone tries to sell in the first year it will be more difficult to recoup costs. We shall see though. It would be interesting to see the break down in terms of ordering. Of course, people buying multiples for their own collection is a real thing in this fandom. More so than in Star Wars though they have that too.

I second that. I order from them often enough that it'd be very useful.

Mostly, because when I have been doing it a few years ago (by replying to all people on one page separately, then editing the posts together later), everyone and their aunt started to attack me for it. So after I took the effort to learn to use it, it rankles my feathers when I see someone else blatantly ignoring it and NOT being called out for it like I was. I hate double standards.

Now I want to find a pitchfork for Unicron to hold.   Maybe a grill fork will do!
