Hes orange now?
Careful... I tried to make this same exact point much earlier in this thread and boy did it strike some nerves with people, hahaha
It's not a wrong point, though. There was no limited production run on Unicron for the time he was up for order, therefore it's not scalping to mark them up. Scalping only happens when there's scarcity of product to begin with.
Anyone who ordered by third party like me. Pretend you got the email
Yes, because commenting about how at the last minute this thing met its target meant that I didn't want it to get funded, I love this reasoning. You don't even know whether I had backed it or not.
It was a joke, good grief.
HAHAHAHA! We both did, and it definitely hit some nerves. Let's chalk it up to agreeing to let others disagree. Best to let that discussion die off...again
Uh oh! Hasbro used the (appropriate) phrase "Transformers History". I'm off to make popcorn now. Anyone else need some?
I can forward you a copy so you have one of your very own
Just noticed the email as well. Looks like we'll be charged right after midnight tonight.
This is my understanding as well. People buying Unicron to sell would just be resellers. Scalpers buy things with a limited stock for a quick return, most commonly concert/sporting event tickets.
And that's just fine. There's no retail marketplace for $500+ toys, so you're describing a scenario where initiatives like this are the only avenue to get those things produced, anyways.
It's not like we're being strongarmed into buying any of those things.
The only people scared by your "nightmare" scenario are compulsive buyers with no financial sense.
Everybody else will just say "bring it on!", because it'd be cooler to have those sorts of options than not. It's highly unlikely we'd get a repeat campaign within 2 years, anyways. It wouldn't be until after Unicron releases, when they've proved they can deliver.
Personally, I'm hard pressed to imagine any other Transformers product I'd be willing to shell out $600 for, barring an MP-style Combiner. And you'd have a hard time arguing that that wouldn't be worth it.
Do you know what the final etailer count was vs Haslab straight backer?
Yeah. An MP Devastator would probably get people to shell out that much. (And honestly I've probably spent near that on 3P combiners, so that's not a bad deal.)
Oooh, I very much like the color here. A sign of things to come I hope!
"Until we make the NEXT largest Transfomer, that is. I mean, it was only three years ago when we made the last one..."
I wonder what the success for this figure means for the future of Masterpiece, premium Transformers figures and IP that they own. I for one would love a large MMPR Megazord. Come one Hasbro, you know you want to make a Megazord with fully articulated Zords that come with Ranger mini-figures.
Hah. Called it.
I wouldn't read as much into it. Hasbro will take this as "fans are willing to spend $600 on a crowdfund if they have three months to get the money".
Hope so, solves my biggest problem!
I could see myself shelling out that much for a giant play set! For a single figure, unlikely. A whole ecosystem to put them in? Absolutely.
