Honey, I got us a new pet! Wait till you see this (not so) little guy...
No, I wouldn't. But mostly because it doesn't disrupt the profile of the legs. Yeah, those panels are clearly there but what of it? Doesn't hinder anything or look obnoxious.
Do you call the tail halves hanging off of Grimlock's legs kibble? Or any of Snarl's dino bits kibble?
They are what they are, man.
You want kibble:
I straight up just told my GF about getting it, and she was like cool. So yea no need for secrets lol
I firmly believe this. The spike we saw on Pulse over the last day and half would have been replicated (much like the sail barge) even with the earlier deadline. Factor in affiliates sales, it would have gotten past 8000. This gives it the distinct possibility of 10,000 +. Which, really is a win for everyone. I've confirmed my orders, I'm ready to go!
Personally I never feel good seeing potential backers locked out due to arbitrary timers and availability. Many people had sudden expenses that couldn't wait. House, car, health, etc. But would be able to buy once out of their unique circumstances. Also we're looking at near 2 years of nothing waiting for Uni. I'm fine with that, but it would be so much more fun to see stretch goals and keep this thing being an "event" all the way to release. I am just always in favor of more consumer friendly practices and I think this crowd fund system has a lot of room for improvement both in consumer friendliness and fun factor. I am also supportive of a payment plan. Doesn't necessarily have to be either/or. Both would be more consumer friendly and I'd welcome both.
So idk maybe I'm a little late. (Just got here just now today)....and, it's at just an even 8000 backers now??? I mean....it's cool and all. but, wtf happened to the other 300+ I saw last night before I went to bed?
We had an entire fucking day left!!! wtf Hasbro???
Geniuses over there at Hasbro which is why this was funded by the original date.
Well, if anyone should know, it'd be those guys.
Fair enough. I do think it makes him a bit of a shellformer - by no means is it a dealbreaker, its an amazing figure. It would have been nice to stow the plates inside the lower legs tho.
Oh no doubt. There are much more egregious examples than Unicron.
I guess that's your opinion. But there's no need to go any further with this debate. In three hours, twelve minutes, the campaign closes and they won't be taking any more orders. If they leave buyers in the cold, that's their choice.
so you work for a multi-billion dollar toy company as well?
Indeed. I guess, in this instance, it's easy to see the pieces as armor plating. He walks across a planet's surface, his lower legs are most vulnerable. The enemy tries to take him from behind, there's that big old plate to plow through first.
They wanted to make a better sphere of the planet mode and didn't want 75 extra panels and accompanying hinges to over complicate the transformation of a twenty-seven inch tall, nineteen pound robot.
Have you watched the Core Star video? Imagine how fiddly Hasbro's would be.
Even though the total number is not shown, the bar percentage is still incremented. If it is correct, the number is now 10,538.
I'm so glad to be wrong. I hope everyone that gets one enjoys it.
Agreed even with convention exclusives we get more than 2 months to prepare. Just knowing that there's a convention and that it will have "something" we get at least a year to save up holiday and birthday money. No such option for Unicron. I'm totally grateful that the deadline was extended and props to Hasbro. I will be a happy Uni owner. But we can still do better and I think Hasbro would also benefit from such an arrangement.
wait.... which is it again?
This process has been quite a journey. I remain unconvinced that Unicron is worth every dollar that Hasbro is asking for, but this is the chance for me to own a centrepiece for my collection. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this thread and look forward to continuing to follow the next stage of the process now that I’ve placed my order this evening.
didn't you cancel your orders?
12:18am eastern time today.
That is a valid point. Especially with how good his planet mode looks. I don’t mind some more complexity in the transformation, bit if it makes him look like he’s made of shattered glass (no pun intended) it’s not worth it.
Indeed. And again, good point.
Admittedly, with the number of characters "left to collect" to satisfy my wants continuing to decrease, I almost expect Unicron to be one of the last figures I obtain.
