    Mfw getting a root canal.

I think I'd like to see it close up. I can't see how the texture turned out.

Fuuuuck that looks good! Aaahh! Can you ask your friend for a photo with the maw fully closed so we can see what it looks like with the blue gears exposed?

Also, how durable is a Gundam marker?

So I never have used those markers at all. What specific marker did you use? Is the marker paint going to come off when touching it after it dries??

Not the original poster, but in my experience, they’re reasonably durable, as long as you aren’t too rough handling them and give them ample curing time. I’m not sure about paint scraping on the teeth (I don’t have Unicron in hand yet), but I remember reading in an earlier post that they don’t scrape that particular piece at all.

Yeah, I did mention in Haslab Unicron thread that the yellow maw was painted by my friend (not mine, sorry to disappoint). According to him, he was using just a simple Gundam Yellow Market Pen (model: Oil Based GM08), and paint it straight on the maw by hand without any dismemberment. Anybody can do it easily.

I did ask for additional close up pictures from him but he didn’t have the Unicron with him at the moment unfortunately...

But I did have experience using Gundam Marker myself on my Gundam figures. Let me share with you. The paint from Gundam marker is very solid, smooth in texture and a little shining (good looking on plastics), and it stays on figure firmly and won’t chip easily. Gundam Marker is specially created to paint on any plastic figure, with quality very close to factory paint level, so you shouldn’t be worried about it too much.

If you want do even better paint job (for more evenly painted surface), you even use this add on kit - Gundam Marker Airbrush System:

F0CB9276-7E89-4D12-A3B6-37C54B5A73C5.jpeg You can find quite a bit of videos on how to use Gundam Marker with this airbrush system and its results in Youtube. The results are gorgeous looking.

    Hope these help.

I would not recommend using such a lacquer-based acrylic paint on modern Transformers plastics. I’ve had lacquer paints absolutely destroy the plastic on a few customs lately.

well it is a good thing that montana also releases their colors in a water based can line and markers as well.

so that wont be an issue moving forward for those that might be worried about that.

i have had no problems what so ever using these paints. the montana paint brand has a very low odor when painting so it leads me to believe that it is not that hot to begin with.

what brand of paint did you use that gave you issues if you dont mind me asking? for future references it would be nice to know and stuff.

also a good primer will keep the paint from reaching the plastic surface.

Got my Unicron today! He's majestic. FedEx dropped him off and didn't even ring the doorbell, let alone ask for a signature. I'd told my wife to watch for him and in the time it took her to walk to the front door he was already walking away!

Came in a plain outer carton. One 2.5" gash in the side that made it through to the interior box, but the styrofoam prevented any damage.

For those that bought him, check Youtube b/c the instructions do not tell you that you need to adjust some panels before you can even set the ball on the stand.

I have to save the transformation for tomorrow.

But here he is (with a PS4 controller for scale for those who are curious).

    Cool Quintesson corkscrew ship!

    Did you make that?
If you have shown it in an earlier post I missed it.

All the posters here are adults who buy toys. I'd be REAL conservative with the 'man-children' label.

Yeah - it is very cool. It's printed, and he finished and painted it really well; it fits nicely with the scale of the Autobot shuttle imo. Apparently only three people bought one from him, so SUPER RARE! :D  :D

Sounds like I've missed the boat.

Too bad, I think I would've bought one, if the opportunity came up.

Actually there seem to be quite a few kids posting here, too, but I pointed out the ENTITLED man children and I still think that title fits some folks here just fine.

There's always the ignore function, as well.

On topic, the more I think about it the more I kind of dig the difference and depth the blue maw brings to the table. But I also hope anyone who wants it finds an easy fix that makes them happy with their product.
