It would be cool if they used this to fill the void left by BotCon and TFCC — repaints with minimal new tooling to get out lower-profile characters or versions of characters. (I’d love a Lost Light Rodimus, for example.) I don’t think it has to be a big ticket item, necessarily.
I would like to see a 6ft tall transformable Unicron figure hand painted with over the top detailing molded into the plastic.....and wall mounts
Who would be a good candidate to be our first $500 item? It just happened today. Habro held a crowd funding/preorder for the largest Star Wars toy ever, Jabba's Sail Barge for $500 each (over 4 feet long and 17 inches high) and it exceeded its minimum of 5000 backers. It's part of a new program called Haslab, where they try to sell directly to the fans for toys that are ambitious and don't fit the retail price point system. They said if this initial project works they will move into their other properties; yup, Transformers. So it's just a matter of time until Haslab get around to doing some insanely huge robot for us. What or who would you like to see?
I don't know about $500 but a decent size MP Skyfire would be awesome! Devastator would be cool or Omega Supreme!
well, given the current rate of inflation, that oughta be enough to give us a non-hollow leader class toy.
For $500? A 4-foot-tall Unicron. But I'd like to see some lower-priced items before they go all out with a $500 figure, like some Titan-class figures or MPs.
MP Omega Supreme or any number of MP Combiners. I wouldn't spend that type of money on CHUG style stuff but Unicron would definitely tempt me.
If I had to bet money on it: Generations Unicron(This got made) & Primus(retooled from Unicron) that double as Micro Machines playsets. They would include little micro-machine figurines of Transformers in robot and vehicle modes to use in and around the planets. The planets and their robot modes would open up at certain areas to reveal internal play areas for the micro figures. This would be a "kill 2 birds with one stone" approach to getting both Transformers and Micro Machines done in Haslab. Unicron would be released first. Primus would be released later, like as the 10th Haslab item. 2nd runner up: Ultimate Studio Series ROTF Devastator(This also got made!) Devastator is made up of deluxes, voyagers, leaders (whatever size class is necessary for the line's "scale in robot mode" rule): Scavenger (torso) Hightower (left arm) Long Haul (right leg) Mixmaster (head) Rampage (left leg/foot) Scrapper (right arm) Overload (lower waist) Yellow dump truck (left leg) Second bulldozer (left hand) Unlikely: Movie Masterpiece AOE Grimlock (he's big enough to have an eventual MPM AOE Optimus ride him). Movie Masterpiece TLK Dragonstorm (same reason as above).
I saw a brief YouTube vid earlier today (sorry...can't seem to locate at the moment) wherein the host recapped a press conference/interview with Haslab during which Haslab mentioned an interest in doing projects related to other properties (they mentioned TFs as one example). They also mentioned the possibility of doing projects that would be more affordable than the $500 Jabba Barge. I would think that a simple reissue of an in-demand, but currently out of production, figure could be a great first TF project for them to put out there. It seems that the risk would be pretty low for them, and it shouldn't require them to complete any new design or engineering work. Think about it. What would you like to see reissued?
Love the MP ideas. Only problem is, MPs are primarily a Takara project with minor spillover to the West. HasLab is pushing there own ideas first. So anything "Generations" will be more likely to happen. I'm not saying MPs aren't possible. Half of the designs and engineering are shared by the two companied. If I remember correctly, the recent Devastator, Fort Max and Trypticon were all done by Hasui.
