I was thinking what might be an alternative to "going big" with Haslab and a thought that hit me was perhaps to do boxed sets that are more premium than the most premium releases while also sporting a variety of figures.

One option I can see is "groupings" of figures such as doing the whole BW cast in CHUG form as a single project or ALL the Targetmasters or Pretenders or Turbomasters vs Predators, rather than do them piecemeal at retail or devoting a line to them.

    Thoughts?

I'll pay if it means these characters getting dedicated molds of high quality. Not sure how realistic it is that it will hit the mark needed to produce it, especially with the G2 guys.

My napkin math says the G2 guys would be $800 for the 93 lineup. I mean, you could omit Jazz, Sideswipe, Optimus, etc. but I'm not sure how much enthusiasm you'd have for what's left.

BW or Headmasters or Targetmasters at least strike me as having enthusiasm and a few existing toolings you could work in with upgrades.

Hmmm, it be interesting if they pull an "Lego Ideas" sorta format. It be interesting to see a "Magnificent Six Combiner Set" Consisting of comic accurate redecoes or POTP Inferno and Jazz, Along with CW Wheeljack, Sunstreaker and Prowl. Maybe a bonus Legends-sized Stampede Figure that turns into a weapon.

Truth be told I'm not sitting well with the only possible way of getting major BW updates or really any other era update is by an extremely hard to get box set that not everyone is able to afford. It feels too much of a slap in the face to the people who've been waiting for affordable ones for years now.

Yeah, thinking about it. This concept should also add a single pack figure releases for newer molds if that's the case. Like it would require less backers if that option is chosen.

Also should this even be the only way for people who want major updates to the BW and UT characters to get them? Fans shouldn't have to resort to doing only special event/box sets to get the characters they've been wanting to have updated since forever. Like how G1 fans shouldn't have to resort to things like Botcon in order to get updates to certain G1 characters. If we must resort to Haslab for getting certain characters shouldn't it be reserve for characters we know aren't going to get into mainline release at all or at least not in an easy manner? I mean they have the right idea with Unicron so far.

Interesting idea. Actually, this is how I thought they would do 6-inch GI Joes, a six-pack of Duke, Snake eyes, Scarlet, Commbra Commander, Storm Shadow, and Destro because I never thought GI Joe would get a 6-inch line.

I am glad to say I was absolutely wrong.

The problem with the obscure stuff like Turbomaster vs Predators is that Haslab has to stay high profile like Unicron, like a Sentinal, Like the barge. I don't think it is a good Idea as BW should get a line. It would be cool though, but I don't think we'll be getting it any time soon, Hasbro seems to be going line to line. Here is my guess (with the line so far):

    Star Wars Vintage
    - Barge
    Transformers - Unicron
    Marvel Legends - Sentinal
    (guesses from here)
Power Ranger - 6-inch Scale Megazord
Ghostbusters - 6-inch Scale Stay Puff
G.I Joe Classified - Not sure, maybe the Flag? I think that might be saved for the rumored Vintage line.
Star Wars Black Series - Something, no idea what.
    Then, back to Transformers

I have mixed feelings about box sets. Sometimes they're really cool, but they usually end up being hard to get and unduly expensive. As long as it's something affordable and attainable, I'm interested.

My enthusiasm for G2 updates (and G1 updates) is mostly limited to the new characters that were introduced and never got an update, so plenty.

Yeah, that's sorta why i considered suggesting an option to go with single-figure releases. Like have some option for smaller projects and see how it goes. Perhaps they could do Masterpiece figures, or even make an "mini-wave" that consist of new molds. About four deluxe figures or so. But you have the added option to either back and own the individual figure you want or back the entire wave and get all the figures in that wave.

I think $200-250 should be the price cap.

No reason for Hasbro to risk a campaign for stuff that could be done at retail. The whole point of Haslab is to release items that would be impossible without crowdfunding.

I guess it would depend on the size of the mold.

Yet another thread where Beast Wars features prominently in discussion.

There is such a hunger within the fandom.

I'll take anything Beast Wars as long as it's good and organic. I need me some scaly, chitinous, creepy-crawlies.

There are no words to express how much I would love this. Though "ALL" Targetmasters or Pretenders is a tall order, as it includes Piranacon & Monstructor.

I passed on Unicron...but if it had been a Predators vs Turbomasters box set...or some of the original characters from G2 theres no way Id have passed.

I'd buy a Predator or Turbomaster boxset.
4 deluxes and 2 voyagers (or a voyager and a leader). They're perfect for a nice affordable and highly marketable boxset.

And great G1 toy faithful Pretenders is something I'd pay good money for, no matter in what formula they are made available (except for crowd funding).
