If Hascon winds up being real, and they have exclusives, what would you want them to be? I'd like them to try to recreate toys that got canceled, like turn Robotmasters Lio Convoy (or the original mold if that's still around) into Alpha Trion. Edit: Just an F.Y.I., I don't mean new molds, I mean the same kinda exclusives Botcon had (i.e. redecos and remolds).
I doubt they will make new molds for a convention. It will probably be like Botcon. Repaints mostly and maybe a new head.
Flame from WfC megatron. I would like obscure characters but we might get more crazy shit like transformers rock bands.
This. There is no way we will get anything like the Botcon exclusives at a potential Hascon. Those days are gone now. I would expect them to offer what they have at SDCC.
Well, they certainly won't be as CREATIVE, perhaps, as some of the Botcon sets. But don't think they won't make figures we won't want. Stuff that could be in the realm of possibility: 1. Titan Metrotitan or Brave Maximus 2. G1 reissues in new paint schemes 3. Masterpiece exclusives (black Tracks, anyone?) 4. Hate plague 1986-character set (red repaints of Ultra Magnus & Co.) 5. "Rebirth" (Titanmasters with cartoon colors and Targetmaster pack-ins, recolored from Scoop's) Etc., etc...
1. I wouldn't buy 2. I wouldn't buy 3. I would buy, but I don't think Hasbro would do it. TT more likely. 4. I wouldn't buy 5. I wouldn't buy I realize that I'm not a representative of the whole fandom, but I know a lot of others are of a similar mindset. That's the kind of things I'm talking about.
The top of my wish list would be completing Botcon Legacy homages and fleshing out sets from 06 onward. I'd love it if we got the big gamble figures like G2 Devastator, Metrotitan and Brave Max too. I'd be fighting for my place in line. What I want and what we'd likely get are probably nowhere near each other though. I am cautiously optimistic yet braced for the worst.
Yeah I'd expect they'd offer stuff more along the lines of what the offer at SDCC. But I'm hoping they prove me wrong and continue the legacy of Fub Pub and offer us more imaginative stuff than chromed dinobots, black arcees or see-through sentinel primes.
The problem here is that Hasbro budgets for repaints with retooled heads now. Up until about 2010, that was more Botcon territory. FunPub had to almost pretzel to give us sets that would be enticing for collectors since the obvious stuff was already being done at retail. (Of course, some of this could have been averted by offering fewer exclusives at Botcon, lowering the price, etc. but that's another topic for another time.) Hasbro will now budget these exclusives well in advance and with the current retail line in mind.
i sincerely hope you're wrong. otherwise there's no point in going to this convention. (for me at least) I like Funpub's exclusives BECAUSE they were either obscure characters (Like Ferak), new characters (like Landshark) or new twists on existing characters (Shattered Glass/Pre-BW) I usually make it a point to at least try to acquire all of Funpub's Botcon toys. I just cant bring myself to care about most of Hasbro's SDCC exclusives, because they're just fancy versions of characters I have already.
My belief (that others have also expressed) was that a potential HasCon would be more in line with something like Disney's D23 show, meaning a broader experience with multiple brands. D23 offers exclusives, but they aren't in that business. It is more a like a cross between a fan con and investor-type event. As such, they don't tend to be TOO heavy in the big multi-piece exclusives like Botcon. My suspicion is that HasCon exclusives will be more in line with the "secondary" items offered at SDCC- some repaint/retool sets of one to three figures, at best.
Which, to me, fewer figures will be a good thing. I guess those who have massive disposal budgets will be sad.
My little seekers. https://www.google.com/search?q=my+...hVF6CYKHb5HBU0Q_AUIBygC#imgrc=XoYV6e2GFZ6ydM:
its the nature of the exclusives that concern me. i'm fine with there being fewer exclusives. sometimes 14-15 a year is a tough hurdle to jump financially. so long as they're characters that need updates an not just chrome versions of let's say Hardhead and Blurr in a fancy box. and with it being an all Hasbro convention, the possibility of more crossover based sets seems likely. i'd be down for some TR figures decoed up like M.A.S.K. Vehicles, or generations Sandstorm as Micronauts Acroyear, or an Optimus Prime MLP. (ok i myself wouldnt get the last one, but i know someone wants it)
Maybe not JUST for a convention, but they could debut new molds as convention exclusive decos/tools, then release the molds at mass-retail with new decos or tooling. It opens up some possibilities.
I think there's a distinct possibility of crossover exclusives, like the SDCC "Jetfire" Skystriker repaint that Harmony Gold was stupid enough to try to sue over. So maybe we'd see things like... "Optimus Prime" colored Hiss Tank MLP repaints of Mach Kick Optimus Prime repainted as the Rhino from M.A.S.K. etc...
A pack of Mach Kick reduces as the MLP cast. But if we're really talking along similar lines to Botcon exclusives, how about a box set of Elita 1's crew? They can repaint the Victorion team or something.
