takara makes more shiny things LOL plus their characters seem to be more screen accurate...take red rampage from ROTF...fucking took hasbro two attempts to make a 1/2 decent screen accurate tf....takara nailed it out the ball park on first try. this is like comparing the company that has a decent idea to the one that is clueless 90% of the time. takara always is doing campaigns to boost sales during product launches... when is the last time you saw hasbro do a instore promotion involving product (FREE STUFF) to boost sales? try NEVER... takara does it all the time with minicons or mech weapons or other little goodies it seems.
Same here. Perhaps there should be options for "depends" and "meh, whichever". (or even "neither") I mostly lean Hasbro though, except in cases where there is no equivalent (Animated Blackout or Hydro-Bee), or the Japanese version is exceptionally appealing to me (Henkei Astrotrain and Dinobot)
I'm voting Hasbro. My main reason is because as a cheap-ass it's less expensive for me to get the Hasbro versions of the toys. I do honestly tend to prefer Hasbro's decos as well, though. I'm not a huge fan of chrome on my modern toys. It was cool in the 80's, but it just feels out of place and forced on most newer figures.
Takara because cost is no object. If they want to make something, they do it and then they price it accordingly, unlike Hasbro who has to fit toy X within class X or X toys within class X and what not. If they need to charge $2 more to get a figure better paint apps, they'll do it.
Completely depends on the toy. Some things like Classics Prime, Megs, Astrotrain, Rodimus, and Starscream I prefer Takara. But others like Kup, Wheeljack, and figures that have stupid out of place chrome/shiny paint I prefer Hasbro.
I don't have a preference. I just get the version I happen to like best. Sometimes that's Hasbro, and sometimes it's Takara.
Well aside form Generations Thrust, RTS Cyclonus & possibly the MP Rodimus, the Takara figures have usually impressed me a lot more, if not definitively more. However at the same time, it's really a case of Takara being aimed at a smaller collector market, while Hasbro's variants are aimed at a larger mass market. Due to that, Hasbro figures are not only more accessible to people like me, but they're also a lot cheaper as well, and that's really what I see going on their side. Other than that however, I honestly can't say that I've been won over by many economy variants.
Takara by far. Its a shame I'm a little late to the party so I had to settle for Hasbro for the most part. Hasbro is good still.
I my eyes they're both exactly the same mold so unless there's big differences (Henkei Red Alert, Astrotrain, Megatron) I don't see the need to spend the extra money on an import when I can get the same toy at retail. Chrome and a few extra swipes of paint aren't worth paying $30 for a toy can buy locally for $11. Of course all that said, I really don't consider one "superior" over the other.
They both suck in different ways ... But Takara's premium pricing without matching qc has me biased these days.
Depends on each toy. For instance, I liked Hasbro's run of the Animated line for the most part better than Takara, but I like Takara's Classics lines better. If the Prime toys from Takara are shiny LIKE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE (lookin' at you Takara Animated), I might spring for those.
