There are other reasons but we aren\'t allowed to discuss it here without the mods breathing down our neck. The entire economy is tanking form the thing-that-shall-not-be-named.

Meh, okay. I'll buy what I want and prices will drive me away from impulse purchases.

    Basically what's been happening already.

While understand the surface reasoning, I warn that it is the marginal increases that one tends to ignore that create the largest problems over time.

I find the NFT thing laughable, because weren't the cutting plastic out of boxes to "save the environment?"

    Typical shitty cost driven corporation.

yeah corona (it's a very real thing, i know the mods don't wanna have to clean up anything that might be scawy and too realistic) screwed the economy. but the thing is the economy's fucking made up. there is nothing stopping brian goldner or any other wealthy exec from taking a hit to their literal lifetimes' worth of wealth to help out the world or at least prevent it from getting worse besides their own demented greed.

hasbro and its partners, and all these other big businesses, do not care about you. we are just dollar signs floating around telling them what we wanna buy and then they see how to make the most money with the least effort and care possible.

my wfc: kingdom for a life untainted by the greed and lust of old men wringing their hands trying to burn the world to ash for another dollar.

Now it’s a matter of whether retailers will keep stocking the products at “normal” price. I know it varies by location, but here deluxes are still $20. The price increase hasn’t hit here yet. During the Universe 2.0 and ROTF period, deluxes were 12.99 I think per official MSRP, but I never paid more than $10 at retail. It’s only after that when retailers started playing catch-up on the price hikes.

Alright alright let's dial it back just a little, this is getting a bit silly now. This site isn't the place to have these discussions due to the rules in place, so it'd be best to keep the topic focused on... well, the topic, as tricky as that can be.

Looks like alot of people are gonna be calling quits soon, im in the same boat too. Once SS finish with the live action stuff and does 90% of the bayverse characters im out, i dont care about modern g1 anymore and it seems to be path where hasbro is going forward remaking alot of g1 stuff.

We're all guilty of being suckers for consumerism here.

On the plus side if they just keep releasing pricier and pricier G1 Optimus for the next five year its not hard for collectors to give up. Me? I'm not the type to buy multiples of a character barring some novelty designs I quite like (Super Megatron, G2 Optimus). I've got one decent figure of a character and that's it, barring those rare few occasions where the original one I had wasn't really great, such as T30 Doubledealer vs ER Doubledealer. Some people will be blindly consumerist, more so than me but on my end there is no point paying more for something I already have. I'm fine calling it quit after Kingdom especially if its more GEEWUN. I'm fine just hanging around and getting a single figure once in a while when I can maybe afford it.

Yeah, people feeling empathy for them raising costs don't understand how corps made out like bandits in the pandemic.

Honestly I was calling it quit after Kingdom and the only thing that would make me a total sucker are either Transmetals or those few figures I've been waiting for a while now. I already can't remotely afford shit like entire waves anyway. There is a limit to how much CONSOOM one can take anyway to the point I am hoping we see more G1 rehash so I can call it quit and just cherry pick a few things that interest me. Completionism is a bad habit to have and I won't lie it has hurt my enjoyment of collecting.

which is natural, because for a while the civilized world was, at large, in a good enough place where people could have hobbies like this and still be happy and feel like they were getting what they wanted for a reasonable asking price. but then everyone in charge pulling the strings looked the gift horse in the mouth and slowly started taking advantage of everyone and everything considered beneath them.

liking consumer products shouldn't mean we have to accept getting fucked over for it. there's a balance to the spiritual and the physical. i know that wasn't your point but your post felt like a good jumping off point.
