So they keep buying up companies for billions and say they need to raise their toy prices because of material costs? What they never say is how much profit they want from each item. I'm sure people have already mentioned it but I can get a KO Siege Ultra Magnus that's bigger, uses some better materials, and includes upgraded parts for about the same as Hasbro's release. I don't WANT to resort to that, but the profit margins Hasbro wants feels like it's getting a bit absurd.

Leaders will probably bloody be $100 f*cking dollars now from the already ridiculous $89
This better not apply in Australia for some reason cos I mean nobody is gonna pay that shit.

Glad to see some people here realize this is all about maintaining their profit margins...it's not enough for companies to make a ton of money, they have to keep making more and more money. Infinite growth is poison. As we can see here, it's eating and killing our hobby.

If things start to get really bad, then frankly I'll start only buying the ones I absolutely gotta have, and start digging into the backlog of older figures that people sell for reasonable prices.

After that...maybe it's time to enjoy what I got and find a new hobby :lol

Official Transformers were and are always out of our family budget with very very few exceptions. The prices are as it is insane and now they have to raise it even higher? I don\'t know how many are gonna pay so much for just entertaining plastic.

    However I do realise there\'s a reason

What a stupidity Hasbro proves with this.

Remember how DotM hit the stores and how cheap that lines looks, soft plastic and limited paint.

Actually this is great because even now I do not buy new toys immediately, because of possible repaints with better deco, but I am pretty close to end up collecting.

I think the best way to understand if the reasons are 100% legit is to see if they drop the prices satisfactorily after the pandemic ends (that is if it ever ends)

    Strange days indeed.

Society is entering a phase where plastic toys may just not be a thing soon. Clearly they forgot how to make “enough” money with these items despite recent significant price increases and years of gradual cost cutting measures.

It’s particularly odd since there’s obviously very high demand, impoverished labor is still plentiful, oil is still readily available (even if the price is rebounding a little). Given this, I suppose it’s being killed off by ownership/parasite class and the prospect of immensely low effort, insanely high ROI from idiotic concepts like NFTs. It’s just too tempting.

Sadly, I’m far from being done with Transformers. I’ve loved them for 35 years and that’s not going to stop tomorrow.

My plan is to sit tight and wait this out. If upcoming products don’t justify the cost, there are PLENTY of vintage and 3P items that will keep me busy for years to come.

Except we don’t know what their margins are and really, they’re pointless.

Profit margins DO NOT matter to us the buyer!

What matters is whether or not we feel we’re getting a good value for our money. Sounds like many of us are getting to the point we’re we don’t.

    Enough is enough is enough.
    Pin wheels to clip-on wheels.
Clip-on wheels to multi colored outside clip-on wheels on WAY too many vehicles.
    Friction joints versus metal pins.
Hollowed out syndrome to the extreme. They're actually now cutting out the tire spokes on vehicles (Studio Series Jazz and Tracks as examples). Also did not anyone notice that the plastic around the back side of the upper part of robot legs were also cut out?
Constantly reducing size and weight of each class size while charging more and more.

    Just ... sigh.

So your prices gotta go up yet you can\'t be bothered to still check product for obviously loose joints before putting them in package, nothing I hate more than opening up an item and having one arm be fantastically tight and the other barely able to hold itself up, even worse when it\'s legs that cannot hold weight.

If a company cannot get by without raising prices when they are already selling well (and making a profit) then frankly YOU\'RE doing it wrong.

I\'m glad I\'m coming to the end of my TF collecting, with the recent amazing product that\'s being made I can\'t see them doing anything I would need to get outside of a few now.
