I have mixed feelings. On one hand it's great and certainly in line the attitude I'm taking towards recycling and reducing my use of plastic overall. On the other hand the collectors who stick to retail whenever possible because they want to inspect paint aren't a myth. I'm very much one of them. It's not a cheap hobby, and I prefer to have the best copy of any given figure that's available.

True, not to mention that Hasbro does not take back unsold or broken stock, not in Canada anyway. Many who know better than me have told me that'
s the case and the onus falls on stores.

No issues for me. I buy 99% online as it is living in the middle of nowhere. Lol

regardless of whether you buy online or in store i think its fair to say that we all deserve better qc. the fact that we have to argue about paint chips and such sucks. some will probably never be satisfied either way but i want hasbro to do a better job of satisfying it's fans. if anything qc sucks more for people who buy online so why would you defend it?

I'm not a chemistry major but is there some other translucent eco friendly material that a window can be made out of?

When I buy in store, I always notice anomalies and errors, all figures have them, i pick the figure that has the fewest visible errors but I cant do that if I cant see it, collectors also are not likely to buy a box that's already been opened in the case of mass returns due to deco errors etc.

Regular shoppers and kids wont care but collectors typically like to see the figure before they buy especially when talking mass retail

These are toys. They’re intended to be played with by children above anyone else. Not just adults who play and then toss it on a shelf. They’re toys for god sake

Wanna know how hasbro satisfies the fans? By recognizing them and continuing to remake G1 characters with modern engineering.

Not good enough? No surprise. Nothing is

but here we are on a site dedicated to people who love them. if you hate this fascination with children's toys then why partake in discussion all about them?

This no plastic thing is as idiotic as the paper straw thing. Corporate Virtue Signaling BS.

Anyone care to hear about how paper is a bigger problem than plastic? Nobody cares...neither do I.

I swear I heard this same promise from Hasbro over 10 years when they were going to stop using twist-ties.

I hated the paper ties but I absolutely loathe the new short straps. So I gotta wonder what hot new nonsense they\'ll come up with next.

Idea: make the window out of a transparent material that doubles as a base to hold up the figure. If I\'m gonna pay $30 for a mainstream deluxe, at least give me something I can use instead of those cumbersome cardboard cutouts, right?

No I hear ya. Not really making an argument against it, just sharing my thoughts.

Because I simultaneously enjoy the product while recognizing it's not all about me.

Would this mater for me? (Transformer wise- No) I’ve been collecting mostly Masterpiece for a while with an occasional mainline figure. Most Masterpiece is in a box only, with no window. However, I do occasionally pick up some vintage style card back Star Wars figures. I’m not sure I would collect those without a plastic bubble.

The newest Trypticon and Predaking had no plastic correct? Never really heard any complaints.

MP figures are non windowed and are some of the best sellers fan wise.

I think that this is commendable especially as a huge company. Still, I hope they understand why the window in their packaging in important, and steps up their paint quality to put buyers at ease, at least with products like generations. I don't like the idea of not being able to see the quality of an item before I buy it.

This is very good indeed. Not sure if they'll actually follow through with this, but if they do it's a great step. This is WAY better than the straw debacle.

I have a rather simple solution: How about something like this minus the plastic?
    81F0pChR-hL._SL700_.jpg 810jnteqxvL._SL700_.jpg

No dust, but you can still check out the toy if you want.
