SDCC full reveal I'd imagine.
Look at the gun in his hand. That is absolutely a Titan/Primemaster compatible port. This is either a Deluxe or Voyager Targetmaster Prime figure.
Just looks like the PotP version with an axe.
Evokes a lot of the POTP Leader Optimus Prime to me but I know it's not given that the POTP Leader never had an axe. I wonder if this will end up being Optimus's Cybertronian design from IDW/War Within given that the WFC line will take place in Cybertron's past?
Another Power of the Primes Leader repaint by the looks of it - with new gun an a new axe.
I was just thinking earlier a red/Blue Powered Convoy deco might work better with the way the trailer folds onto the robot.
Shame really as I think what people would have prefered is a heavy remould with the ability be Powermaster Optimus Prime (and not Orion Pax) - Likely to many new pieces for Hasbro to be bothered with these days - so Cynical repaint alert - might also just be one with the same paint issues but this time with metallic finish too.
I've looked at the silouette and compared it to the PotP figure a bit and I just don't think so. The panels on the arms, the stuff hanging on the back, the smoke stacks being shorter, the head seems shaped different. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking new mold.
It could be a heavily retooled version of the mold to look Cybertronian.
If that's a Primemaster port on his gun is it the right scale for a leader class? I suppose one possibility is it's a "new" mold that follows similar elements of the PotP figure. A cybertronian Optimus with an evolution gimmick could potentially be a pretooling of Thunderclash and explain what mold they would've used had Hound won the Next Prime poll.
Remember: We have not seen *any* sign of a retool for either Prime or Rodimus. The Nemesis versions both had new heads but were otherwise nearly identical. Thunderclash/Hound would've been the retooled mold and we'll have to sit back and wait to see who ends up using the mold that would've become Arcee Prime.
The ankles do not look like POTP OP though. He has very distinct skinny ankles from his transformation. The gun is different too because it lacks the second 5mm peg for the front half. Those are the most obvious differences that I noticed.
okay the axe between legs
this is what the numeber 10000000000000 g1 prime, well when they are going to give us armada optimus?????
Has there ever been an all new, or very heavily retooled figure released for SDCC? I thought it was always repaints or just slight remolds.
That's why my question goes back to "is that even a leader class figure?" We'd need a shot of PotP Prime with his twin guns and a primemaster posted similarly for scale comparison. Because one thing is for sure, that's a port to plug one in his gun.
I wouldn't be shocked if his axe has a port as well. Hell, I bet his axe has a port and a second blade to use as Breastforce armor.
This isn't a figure for SDCC, it's teasing a figure from the next line.
Oooohhhh... Saw the full reveal thing and one tracked. My bad.
If this is a new Voyager Optimus, I really hope he isn't gimmicked and is an actual, good all-in-one figure.
One can dream...
I was thinking the same thing as everyone else. Just based on the silhouette, it seems very similar to PotP Optimus Prime. But obviously, besides the axe, the most noticeable difference seems to be the back. Which is just flat and doesn't have Orion Pax's legs sticking out. Which made me wonder what if they did a retool of PotP Optimus Prime, but instead of evolving from Orion Pax to Optimus Prime, he evolved from a very G1-looking toy-style Optimus Prime to a more cartoon accurate modern Optimus Prime. Basically just replace the Orion Pax figure with a G1 Optimus figure. And now I kind of want to see that.
Could you imagine a line like that? Transformers that transform from G1 toy accurate to G1 cartoon accurate robot modes. Like they could make an Ironhide and Ratchet that transform from their G1 van modes to their shitty G1 robot modes with the window for a face, but then the leftover kibble that would normally turn into their defence platform instead turns into robot parts to turn their G1 toy robot forms into proper more cartoon accurate robot forms.
But yeah, GeeWun fatigue set in long ago. I'll wait for the full reveal to even consider getting excited for yet another version of G1 Optimus Prime.
Define "gimmick" because it's going to have something that makes it compatible with other figures in the line.
Please be Hyperdrive, please be Hyperdrive, please be Hyperdrive.....
The best I could do on short notice. He certainely does look similar, but there is a lot different. The ankles, knees, and placement of the smokestacks stick out to me. Pretty sure it’s a new mold.
I am thinking WFC 2.0.
Another MP10 re-release?
