Hasbro has officially shut down Backflip Studios, the developer behind Transformers: Earth Wars.

Kind of crazy but expected. Earth Wars ran for a lot longer than it needed.

Mod edit: Information from Space Ape. The Game won't be affected.

Transformers: Earth Wars won't be affected.

The game has been operated entirely by Space Ape for many years so the changes won't have any impact on the game or its players. The GI Joe release will go ahead as planned and players will be able to enjoy the game for years to come

Sorry, allow me to add that Earth Wars itself may still continue. Reportedly, at least. Resources may to transferred to Space Ape.

I have no idea if this is true though as a contact told me. Take it with a grain of salt

Here's an interesting quote from Hasbro in regards to this:
Huh, I always thought mobile games were doing well for Hasbro. I much rather have a console/PC game anyways.

    Welp.

The sad thing is that the dialogue in this game was better than it had any right to be, probably because Furman was the writer for it. There were more than a few really amusing interactions with characters, I also appreciate the effort they attempted in creating each character model, but this isn't unexpected.

I actually thought the studio was gonna shudder sooner than now.

So does this mean we can go back to console games again? At this point I'll even just be happy with ports of War/Fall of Cybertron and Devastation for the Switch :p

Seems suspiciously close to the news that a player spent $150,000 in that game....

Although the game was full of microtransactions, I think if Hasbro didn't shut them down, Earth Wars could of had more potential.
I wonder what's next for Earth Wars.

Phew, thought for a second it was the curse that seems to be on GI Joe rearing it’s head again since they just integrated them into the game

If anyone was around from the beginning of that game you know Space Ape alone wont have much to offer to players. They are a small company. Tencent got involved about a year and a half ago and it\'s been downhill from there. You needed very deep pockets for that game.  I hope the Joe fans can at least get some fun out of it before sundown strikes.

Let's hope Hasbro can make a decent mobile offering for Transformers one day. As a TF collector and avid mobile gamer, Hasbro have NEVER made anything for mobile that was relevant to me. All they really need is a cool, multiplayer PVE game, with mouse/hardware controller support, that isn't P2W and just sell cosmetic IAPs. That and official live wallpapers, launcher themes, etc.

    Oh well...
