interesting that transformers revenue declined overall yet was still its second highest non movie year in history. guess the brand is much healthier than all the naysayers would have people believe :lol

The only thing that's bring the franchise down is Cyberverse, walmart one of the biggest retailers (and they call themselves the biggest toy store in the us) did not get any of the new cyberverse spark armors, they also stopped carrying the scouts and ultras after 2018 and early 2019

walmarts toy section is pathetic honestly considering they barely carry anything. my local walmarts rarely carry leaders and the pegs are usually either or between generations and studio series, rarely both, so id blame walmart itself more than cyberverse

I always see kids carrying transformers to the checkouts at my work, it's been a fairly good mix of SS, WFC, CV and RB too so I think all of the mentioned toylines have great futures ahead.

The two Targets in my town both carry more transformers than any of the four Walmarts.

In a way Cyberverse is to blame too, Cyberverse toys are so bad that not even the kids want them, so stores are barely getting them and are getting the collector oriented stuff instead. therefore the produced cyberverse product is stuck in warehouses where theyll be eventually sold into clearance stores at a discount rate resulting in a lost of sales and revenue

    same

if cyberverse was doing so poorly then the show wouldnt have been greenlit for a 3rd season and we wouldnt also be getting the new deluxes or any of the new figures that are coming out like clobber and rack'n'ruin

Also points to all of the complaints about prices and "simplification" from stuff like Cyberverse likely helping the line more than anything. Expect to see more modular figures and an increased focus on that kind of inter-connectivity...moreso than when Prime Wars.

Hopefully this means they'll do Voyager/Leader/Commander modular figures.

Yup. Cyberverse did so poorly they introduced a whole new pricepoint and expanded on the gimmicks from the previous waves.

It doesn't sound like Transformers is doing poorly at all. And I'm sorry to all the G1 haters out there - but it appears that G1 sells best if we're seeing a "second best non-movie year" in terms of sales. And that means it's probably not going anywhere soon and will remain front and center.

Why would G1 sell badly? The G1 banner by far has the largest number of marketable characters for toy purposes compared to BW/BM and UT.

Because as time has gone on, Hasbro has done less work to establish new characters and more work to just slap old names on new bodies.

There's a reason for that - namely to maintain rights to names. In order to keep Bumblebee, they have to use it again, and again, and again...

So there's no middle ground between no Bumblebees and 17 Bumblebees every year?

No. It’s just a lever in the factory. One direction is labeled “No Bumblebees” and the other is labeled “17 Bumblebees.”

Every year they have to tell the guy in the factory whether to pull the lever or not. Big decision.

Yeah, not to mention Micro and Battle Masters around April last year.

I'm just glad the brand is doing well.

A line failing as insanely badly as you are claiming would lead to a much weaker year than we had this year. Not to mention that Hasbro would not put more budget into Cyberverse engineering for 2020 if it weren't a succesful line.

What you're not seeing is that Hasbro was already paid for those terrible toys that stores ended up dumping on closeout stores. The reason they're putting slightly more budget into the followup could be that stores refused to order them if they didn't.
