I got one of those too, but I'm not going to SoCal any time soon. I like to not have to step over human shit.

Apparently all the slots are filled. Less than 16 minutes (according to my time-stamp on the e-mail).

Oh, well. I didn't really need an extra three-hour drive, anyway.

(But I'd thank folks not to hate on California. Some of us quite like living here.)

Don't bother quoting me the sources. I live in Los Angeles County. There are indeed problems here. It's also a very nice place to live for many.

    Stop insulting us.

Fair point, but does not change the fact that SoCal is becoming 3rd world.

    Funny...

But let's not keep going anyway.

(Ok, that was pretty good though!)

    Here's another hand grenade...

    Is this replacing HasCon?

An interesting question. Doubtful. It certainly doesn't seem to have the scope...

But with no HasCon on the horizon, who's to say it isn't?

You know, BotCon had it's issues, past and more recently. But it's super stupid for Hasbro to pull the plug on it and not have a fully functioning "official con" alternative for the fans. Whether it's rolling other leeching properties into a "BotCon Lite" convention or leeching off of other established comicbook conventions, neither is really an acceptable alternative to what Fun Pub was doing.

    And had decent guest lineups
And had good panels outside of the product reveal
And had lots of fun, off kilter exclusives
And most importantly, had an actual dealer room, the heart and soul of any good self respecting convention

San Diego is a great city. I lived there for years, and it's a friendly, easy to get around place. There's a very nice downtown area that's very walkable with a ton of restaurants and bars.

The problem is that this is clearly tied into the San Diego Comic Con, which is the same weekend and no doubt the reason Hasbro personnel are already there that day. Any other weekend during the entire rest of the year would be fantastic, but finding a hotel for the weekend of Comic Con is a nightmare. Most anyplace anywhere near downtown will likely have been completely booked more than half a year ago.
