She used Megatrons trademark name in her music video. You ain't allowed to do that crap, only hasbro and takara can use the rights.

Given this is about A) a song, in which Hasbro doesn't own the rights to the name "Megatron" over (since your argument would only further apply to the old Black Eyed Peas song 'Future Cybertron'), and B) if you'd bothered to even read the lyrics, it has nothing to do with Transformers (though it does drop a reference to Barbie and Ken so if anything, it's Mattel that would have problems here, not Hasbro).

Also, Madeleine L'Engle used the name "Megatron" for a character in one of her books LONG before Transformers, so they'd just be opening themselves up to a suit in return if they did.

Maybe Mattel should go after her too.

I'm hardly her fan, but it's not hard to remember and spell.

No, because that's not how it works.

Trademarks keep others from copying your work or using your brand recognition to enhance their business in a similar field (Or more to the point, keeps other businesses from causing confusion on which product is the original and which ones the copycats). Trademarks don't apply (with some exceptions) to a very different field of business. "Red Wing Shoes" is a shoe store chain that's nearly as old as the hockey team but there's no chance someone will confuse a shoe store for a hockey team, let alone the recent exclusive seeker toy. "Soundwaves Mobile Electronics" puts sound systems in vehicles, from RV's to boats, ATVs and the like. No one will go there thinking they'll get a transforming toy. Even going back, there have been other Megatrons before the G1 popularized name and trademark. Marvel comics had a one and done villain by that name, there's an old audiobook in which a night guard encounters a machine that gains sentience called Megatron from the late 70's, etc. It's not that no one can use the name, it's that using it in certain ways isn't allowed.

When it comes to music, lyrics that reference a trademarked item isn't infringement either.

Superman is trademarked by DC, yet there are dozens of songs about him. Actual songs, not just a namedrop and the word in the lyrics.

I think we should class-action sue her for misappropriating the term "music", and for noise pollution, because what she does is just making racket. I listened to about 2 second of that "song", before stopping it, because I'm not going to insult my ears. The sound of a cow farting is more melodious.

It would be a silly lawsuit, the one Hasbro launched against ASUS was infinitely more legitimate & hasbro still lost.

If an artist used a copyrighted image(s) of Megatron for an album cover or in a video without permission Hasbro could have a case against them, but not for a namedrop in a song. I think one could also use figures to make original art without legal ramifications. Either way, even if they had a case Hasbro might welcome the free advertising and just let it slide.

Alot of the Transformers names aren't trademarked as their normal words you find in the dictionary.
Although trademarks had always been an issue in the series.
