Some pics of the packaging. This one was the least damaged box of the others that were in stock at my local TRU store. I was able to smooth out most of it to where it looks better after I took these pics. I don't plan on selling it, so I can live with it. It's not quite as bad as the pics make it look because I used a bit of lighting to help make them more visible in pictures. The other boxes were far worse. Not good for those who like minty boxes like me.

Pretty sure the employees are drop kicking these boxes just to watch collectors cry at the counter. My TRU kept them at the CS counter, not on the shelve.

Sportimus, I can tell your window is not warped since the tops are even with each other, but that is still one huge gap between them (KO doors touch). I'd be fine with that gap since the tops are level. It's the driver side clicking in perfectly and the passenger side refusing to that annoys me on mine. I wonder if I should roll the dice and swap mine out?

 

The 2 I saw at my nearest TRU looked about the same as the one you got, which is unacceptable even if this were half the price.

Ok so now a week after having him an transforming him every day,Im running into some tolerance issues. I use to be able keep the chest doors closed all the way,now it will only work if I removed the matrix which I never had to before. In altmode everything lined and locked in place and now his left head light keeps popping open and doesnt wanna lock in it all along with left side of truck front end. Ive gone back and forth between both modes today and its the same issue each time.

I think Im goinga take him back but I dont think Ill be able to find another on the shelf for a while and if I do,itll be luck of the draw again. It sucks cuz everything else,including the box are perfect.

I agree that it is unacceptable finding fresh, brand-new boxes beaten-up everywhere. However, what choice do I have? If I order online, I run the same risk of getting a dinged-up package. I like the colors on this one over the Takara, which is a darker blue. At this point, as a collector and one who is OCD, my only other option is to spend another $220 and get the Takara later on. I'll have both versions. I kind of like that idea despite it being a rather expensive venture. I want a display worthy Prime and one I can mess around with, so I guess I am going down that rabbit hole one way or another. I can thank MP-36 for that!

Just picked this guy up with the current bogo 40% off deal on transformers tru is running right now. I have a custom original hasbro release and takara. This recent release is definitely a step down from those guys. Feels loose, issues with the chest closing, actually a bit lighter shade of blue than the original hasbro release, one of my wheel/rib pieces don't hug the botmode grill very well and the front shin panel is loose and barely tabs in. Small issues all over the place that don't seem to be present on my other two. Gonna do a little part swapping with my other hasbro release and see if I can't get one nice Prime out of the two. I will say that the chrome on the new prime is on point.

Picked one up today, not sure how I feel about it. I wasn't able to find one last week at TRU during their buy one hasbro toy, get one 40%. Was on the fence since I have a MPP-10 however on my way to work today stopped by another TRU randomly on a gut feeling. None on the selves but asked a employee and they had just got 6 in at the customer service desk. And yes, all the boxes looked like they just beat the crap out of them on the assembly line. If the sale was still going on I would have got the Exclusive Cybertron figured (no way I'm paying $150 for that) however just did an impulse buy and got Prime, mostly because I like the coloring on this release. But man...need some convincing it was worth it. Seems like all the KOs these days are better quality, worried about a re-issue, especially if it cost $100 when it was released vs the cash grab of $160 now.

On that note if anyone is in San Diego, this was all at the Toys R Us on Morena Blvd, good luck!

 

I felt the same way since I have had a KO MP-10 for about 3yrs now. Makes no since to want a duplicate mold, but I've never had a Prime with trailer, even in the 80's. It has certainly grown on me and I'm able to overlook the price since I could actually afford it. 6 days later I am definitely keeping it and it does make me smile. The KO stays in my MP dio display and this one stays down to play with or will go in the box for safe keeping. I figure this is my last chance to grab a real one for under $200 and having a toon colored one is wise since that is the direction Takara has gone. After fidgeting with him all these days, the chest gap is mostly corrected, so that really helps. The only thing that has been worth the money is that he made me get down all of my MPs, dust them off and actually play with them. For some reason the trailer gave me a reason to transform all the car bots and appreciate each mold again. Even made me hunt down the '86 movie on blu-ray this weekend and share it with my woman. Prime has rekindled my geewun love.

 

Sorry, but did anyone figure a fix for the weird chest problem in cab mode?

 

For the matrix issue, just turn it around. One side is slightly more protruding than the other. At least that was the case on the first releases.

 

Yes, big side in, but it is still too thick for the cover to close completely. By working it over the past week, I've manages to get the door to stay in an acceptable position. Still nowhere as tight and sealed as my KO.  

 

Thanks but I took mine back to TRU,sadly they didnt have anymore left in stock despite the TRU website saying they did,I got my money back and Ill keep an eye out for one.

The whole left side of the truck not wanting to stay together was a real pain,bummer for a 160 bucks.
