jjtitus is correct. this was an issue pointed out awhile ago. box shows the 2010 release. this release is missing those paint apps shown (torso/shoulders/thighs). not sure if the paint on the toes is missing as well. can't see from any pics of the new one yet.

Solid first review! May I suggest that you take/add pictures of his Dino mode and of the rounded claws and sword? At this point many of us have seen most of the versions of this guy, but for some, this will be their first time shopping for it. They may want to see the differences between this and previous versions.

Thanks! I had photos of his dino mode, but my Photobucket app was/is not working properly.

As for the differences, I don't own the original Hasbro TRU release.

How is the Crome on him? I been hearing that the aoe leaders are chipping easily and Soundwave last year Crome quality was pretty lousy.

Honestly, I'd say that's a valid complaint. Heck, the member wasn't even complaining, just asking. I don't care if it's 250 dollars or 60 dollars, I wouldn't want to spend money on a toy with chrome that would flake off. I just spent 80 bucks on Cubex Huff for the chest paint to chip off.

It was miserable and definitely devalued the toy to me, but it was something I could fix, so I did. But most people can't just rechrome chrome bits at home. Not like factory chrome, anyways.

The original tru release of grimlock was the same price. It wasn't until TRU pulled it's famous price hikes that it's value went on the rise both at retails and in the aftermarket.

The chrome hasn't chipped off on my copy, but of course, I'm more careful with my MP TFs.

Just had him side by side with the original MP08. Rounded teeth, and claws. Sword is a deeper red where takara was more of a washed metallic, the gun has translucent fogged plastic, Tak was just clear. The plastic over the dino neck and bot chest has a slight greenish tint, Tak was just smoke tinted. To the non observant eye, they are identical. The crown also seems to be a bit cheaper than the original TRU run also. Overall I feel like I could have save $100 plus dollars years ago with the latest offering. (Glad they did away with the extra paint apps)

Definitely a worthwhile pickup when compared to some of the other additions. The grey isn't that different in person, and the chrome is solid (thus far). My only issue on this version has been that the hips are ridiculously loose compared to the other ones (have the original Hasbro and original Takara versions), but the knee ratchets are incredibly tight. I decided to take one of the legs apart before ratcheting it in fear of stressing/breaking something. Got it to the notch that I liked, and re-assembled it for display on shelf.

Overall, if you don't have the mold already, It is a worthy version of the figure. I just hope that the re-issue of 08x has tighter hips.

I have Hasbro Asia's reissue from last year. Floppy robo-hips AND knees. Arms/dino legs are good, though.

Wow, the translucent green on the neck really look kinda bad in comparison.

watching those 2 reviews, I have to say that I see some mold degradation.

That's not to say anyone who does not have this should hesitate buying it if they want it.

I have the 1st TRU release, and the hips and legs are REALLY stable. if you watch on the vids, every time they touch it it just wobbles around from the hips.

Colors and paints are close enough for me. whereas on the video theres the tail section that wont seem to come together, mine goes together tighter than a frogs ass.

I still say, at this price point, this is a middle finger to the KO'ers that were popping these out for much more than what TRU is asking.

If I see one, and I can use some coupons...Ill pick it up just to be the fiddler, while my original stays tight on the shelf.

Congrats to all the fans that have been dying for this one, but could not afford the high prices, or rejected the KO.

Now that Fort max has been done...MP grimlock done..they are slowly chipping away at all the hard to get items that fans really wanted. You really gotta stand back and give a nod to HasTakTru for this...GIFT.

For anyone who has this with loose joints, have you tried applying Future to tighten them up? Possible? Results? I haven't opened mine yet, just curious.
