    Ten years!
Oh! Really!:thumb  I remember how we was sad in autumn 2011 because we afraid that there will be no TF4! Movies deserves another ten years and even more!
I expected 2017 - it's most optimal and we haven't big competitors yet;)

Except that cinematic universes are awesome.
The Cinematic Universe has benefited Marvel.
    It benefited Star Trek.

Just pretend it doesn't exist if it bothers you.

There never was a cinematic universe for Star Trek, it all existed within the same timeline. (Well, at least until J.J. Abrams came along.) Just because captains from different series meet up doesn't make it a "cinematic universe", it's just a label Transformers is copying from Marvel to leech off their success.

Huh, thought this was coming out next year...not particularly fond of the cinematic universe idea since they don't seem to be crossing over with other properties. Hope plans change and they stick with the 2016 release date, let this finish out the series, give it a few years of rest, then reboot.

The Bayverse cannot die fast enough. If not for The Last Airbender and Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas, Age of Extinction is easily the worst film of the entire decade.

they have no director, they have no cast, not anything for TF5, 2016 is not a likely date, if it were for 2016 they would be filming right now, or filming next. so its kinda late for a 2016 release, unless they release this on December 2016.

Yes, more Transformers money for more figures, and more movies to be able to hear about how much they suck from the Shakespeares, but they can't explain how they make so much money if they suck.

Yes, that poor perception. It only grossed $1.091 billion and was the most valuable film of 2014.

That's both less than DOTM's total and Paramount didn't make nearly as much as you'd think.

Everybody quotes the $301 million from China, but too often it's never mentioned that Paramount only got 25% of that - $75 million to be precise.

That was not enough to cover the $100 million loss in the domestic box office, which all the money of goes to Paramount.

If China hadn't been pandered to near-exclusively with the film, Paramount would have potentially not even broke even on the budget.

Yep, like I said these Shakespears become les and less based in reality when these movies keep making more and more money and they keep acting like they are flopping at the movie theater and the franchise is over.

That or they complain about China and there money that isn't goo enough for them apparently it's ludicrous.

I agree with what you say, Cal. Everyone is jumping on the "Cinematic Universe" bandwagon now...and as usual, it screams laziness and non-originality on the part of those involved. Let's do what the other studio is doing! We'll rake in big bucks too!
All that the Transformers series needs to do is just introduce and/or utilize other characters outside of the shadow of Optimus and Bumblebee. With well written stories and well-directed movies they wouldn't need to copy another studio's idea.

GWB got elected, twice. Consensus now is he sucks. How did that happen? It is easy to explain how these make money but it doesn't go over well - stupid people x no fiscal discipline.

Chinese money is great as long as China is booming. What happens once that market is saturated? Pandering will only get you so far, and it certainly didn't help serve the already poor plot.

U.S. based companies still rely heavily on U.S. based revenues for reasons including the currency issues you heard referenced in Hasbro's report, not to mention many others. This goes the same for film companies. The U.S. box office performance was definitely a concern, as has been evidenced by the hesitance on what TF5 actually is and who will be making it. Not to mention we already saw a smaller AOE toyline (still on shelves btw). Not to mention the fact that the movie was generally considered poor by audiences and has a poor reputation. Studios track that kind of thing when it comes to sequels - where does the series stand in the minds of the public? Frankly, it is hard to see how anyone could care what happens next in this Universe since there are no firmly established rules governing anything - anything goes and happens for no reason. Nothing seems to matter and there are no characters. Eventually less people will go, especially with increasing competition out there. They've "been there, done that." TF better come up with either something really fresh to offer, or a quality film or two. The franchise as some of you know and love it may already be quite dead. They changed a lot for AOE and it still didn't work.

The name recognition is what is keeping this brand alive over the last few years. Not quality product. The decline of toy sales has been readily apparent in both the price increases at the same time as cost cuts, the smaller amount of product, and the fact it sits on shelves longer.

The signs are there - TF is at a crossroads. Big companies can make quarterly results look good any time they want, but what about long term?

It is also true that Star Wars and Disney will complicate things in the future - there are only so many tentpoles you can properly manage. Hasbro has a lot going for them, but they are poor long term stewards of their own brands beyond the bottom line and they will regret it in the long term.

Less then DOTM is still a huge win , as usual we have a thread full of armature accountants trying to crack some secret code that shows how despite paramount saying it was a success treating it like a success and it being a success its some how not a scusess

Presidential races and movies are 2 drastically different things the movies make money and don't suck or they wouldn't do good at the theaters, that's what they are made to do is make money.

You can rationalize your side however you want but it's not based in real world numbers.
