    ...they can do both.

Mattel can do Hot Wheels cars and Hasbro can do transforming robots. Why would Mattel try the opposite?

While I get the disappointment, as a pretty solid Hot Wheels collector myself, I'm estatic. This is going to be Metal/Metal with Real Riders. I've been dreaming of a Metal/Metal and Real Riders HW takes on Transformers alt modes for a long time!

This is just going to be ridiculous isn\'t it... Either it\'s one of those Hot Wheel cars with Optimus sticking out of it while he drives it, or it\'s going to be Optimus... Transforming into a vehicle.

I hope being a creations listing they dip into the more premium castings they only really use for RLC these days. Thunder roller if they want something close-ish to g1 in Spectroflame red would be awesome. Otherwise there's long gone etc

I also noticed that the link indicates a 2023 calendar. Will take down the story to verify it.

Other products on the page like the '70s WWE multipack and the Masters Origins Extendar are May 2024 products, so it's probably just that Mattel Creations needs to update the webpage title data.

A quick check shows that May 21, 2024 is a Tuesday, while May 21, 2023 is not. I'm inclined to think the calendar is accurate.

Can also confirm that, when maintaining a website for a business (nothing you guys would know or care about), updating those titles when New Year's rolls around is often forgotten :confused2

An Optimus Prime colored Thunder Roller would be goddamn amazing. I'd buy the hell out of it!

Story up again. I asked some my Mattel collectors friends and told me listing and date is fine as other users explained here. News credit updated too.

Both would be great, but we’ve seen nothing to suggest it will be both.

@Jtprime17 posted a batch of listings for next year with 4 Hot Wheels crossover toys in Collaborative (among other things) recently, so we’ll get to have it both ways soon enough.

2025 exclusives listings (scroll down to “Collab”)

What I'm saying is nothing about what Mattel is doing precludes what Hasbro can do.

The turn around time on the TF Hot Wheels is likely quicker if they're doing the "existing Hot Wheels cars with comic inspired deco" thing instead of the "brand new Transformers inspired molding" thing.

Whereas we already know it's about 2-3 years turn around from an idea being pitched/designed and released...if it's an all new mold. Which would make the most sense for Hot Wheels inspired Transformers.

Oh, Mattel did do their own take on transforming robots into cars twice with with Robo Wheels in 1999, and Modifighters in 2007, you would think Hasbro would have taken notice back then, but they didn't until now.

Modifighters also used the same technique that the G2 Auqaspeeders and Stormtroopers used, when blasted with cold water, the castings would show damage, don't believe me? Watch the commercial for yourself.

And here's the Transformers Generation 2 Auqaspeeders commercial, however, it's in Greek.

I don't know what point you're trying to make.

Mattel TRIED their own Transformers. Now they can just partner with Hasbro.

Thank goodness we know where the Optimus Prime skateboard is.

Triple digits, so it's going to be something.

I still can't believe Ferrari approved a design for the 2007 line.

My point is that both lines weren't very popular, and Mattel hasn't attempted this after 2007, they tried to cash in on the success of the Transformers toys they tried to copy, especially after the 2007 live action movie, neither you and I had those Modifighters toys, aside from that, Mattel hasn't even tried to do this attempt after this.
