So today I was going through my decepticon box (its a big box) and I found the mastercollectables decepticon targetmasters. I totally didn't know I had it and was actually was planning to get it in like 2 weeks. has this ever happened to you? Where you find a toy you totally forgot you had
Hmmmm...nope. The closest I can come up with is thinking I'd lost a figure forever and found it after I bought a new one.
I once found RiD2001 Basic Optimus Prime and Movor's legs under my bed, along with a couple McDonald's Armada toys. I have no memory of getting any of them.
I once found a Sideswipe toy you get from a Happy Meal. I found it on one of my display shelves. I found out later my nephew put it there because he thinks I would like it. Other than that I've never forgoten I bought something. If that ever happens, then I probably have a problem with buying too much.
It's never happened to me with Transformers...but once I was in the middle of building a really nice model of the Star Trek Enterprise D...I was near the end and was doing some pain in the ass detail stuff when I was overcome with a sense of deja vu... Turns out I had already built up the exact same kit a couple years back, and had boxed it away for a move...forgot all about it.
I've never actually thought I didn't have a certain toy to the point where I almost bought a second one. I have gone through my stuff before and sort of "rediscovered" toys that I kind of forgot were even made to begin with. This week I dug up that "Back to the Future Time Machine" DOTM Bumblebee and the gray repaint of DOTM Topspin (had to look up his name...he didn't do jack shit in the movie) that I pretty much forgot existed.
No as I don't go out trying to buy every single new figure that's out. I'm selective on what I get and I keep track of what I have through excel. So there no "When did I get this?" moments.
I have something in a similar vein, but also kind of different. Sometimes I'll have these very vivid dreams wherein I'll obtain something, then wake up only to realize whatever I've obtained in the dream didn't come with me back to reality. Usually it's either video games or Transformer components. What's weirder still is how I become aware I'm in a dream and "try" to bring items back. Once I dreamt that I succeeded, only to wake up "again". RIP dream-BW-Scorponok missiles x_x
Nope, though I do dig through my oldest bins and occasionally find figures or accessories that I did not realize I had not sold.
I've had the same thing happen, but not TF stuff. It's usually things that don't exist. I've also had a variant where I find a figure that I thought I sold. I recently dug up my Armada Laserbeak, who I thought I had sold along with a bunch of other Armada figures I didn't like. And now I'm kicking myself, because of the fact that he ain't worth selling on his own.
Nope, this only happens to me with CD's and occasionally a bud or two of weed. Both of which are terrific to find when you're not expecting to.
I generally don't buy a lot of Transformers (G1 Optimus focused collection), so you'd think this wouldn't happen to me... but it has. It is almost always an impulse buy. I'll see a cool looking figure, and it'll be priced right, and I'll jump on it. Then I start playing with it, and think... wait... why is this familiar? And then I'll realize it is because at some other point, I saw the figure, thought it looked cool, and picked it up. The other cases are far dumber. I'll be hunting for a figure on eBay, find a few at decent prices, and put them on my watch list. As the time draws near for the end of the auction, I'll bid and win! Yay! I'm happy and content and move forward. Then eBay will send me a notice a couple of days later that a figure I'm watching is ending soon! I log on, see the figure, place my bid, and win! Yay! I'm happy and content and move forward. And then, a few hours later, I think... wait... did I just... I... am I this stupid? And I'll log into eBay, look at the auctions I've won, and sure enough - I bought the same stupid figure twice, because I have the memory of a gnat. Thus far, it has never been an expensive mistake, but I try to be a bit more careful now.
Not with TF toys but this week I found a figure in a closet that I had totally forget about for 6 years. Hey, it even was still boxed, never opened. That was cool in a way, because surprise new toy, and a cool throne with it which suits fine my Triggerhappy. On the other hand, bring back memories I can do without... Oh well, pleasant surprise anyway.
