Ok, but on this order of magnitude (less than 10) I doubt it.

    Consider:

0 - is "new," but represents figures that do not transform at all. Previously, these packages simply had no marking.
1 - Likely restricted to Legends, much like before. Perhaps some Scouts?
2 - The Universe Seeker mold has been designated this. That's a fairly simple transformation. Because of the increased part count and possibility of breakage, this is probably as low as Deluxes will go. I feel like most Scouts probably belong here nowadays. Ransack is as complex as the Seeker.
3 - There is clearly a place for 3...I haven't seen it, but perhaps Drift fits here.
4 - Leader Starscream and Battle Blades BB (and IIRC the WfC toys) go here. These toys really do take some thought, in my experience. However, they aren't quite the hardest ones I own (those are probably Long Haul and Mixmaster).
5 - Everything I've read on this board (and I'll find out soon enough) suggests that Leader Prime and some of the MPs really are clearly harder than Leader Starscream.

We have gone from a nonsense scale to an informative one.

No, because it's not measuring elegance or durability or cleverness. Just how hard it is to transform back and forth.

That was a blanket statement without qualification, it needed some.

It just depends on what you're measuring and what scale fits it the best. 9 is less than 10. I don't think 9 levels of transformation difficulty would be better than the current 6 levels. Until I get a sense of what they use all the levels for, I can't really judge for sure, but I kinda think 5 might be better than 6.

Yes, but that's not because of the number of levels, it's because the levels are actually being used instead of being a straight reflection of pricepoints as it was when first started in BW.

But the smiley ":p " WAS the qualification! Don't you see? :p

As a budding scientist, my tongue-in-cheek response is naturally that we need more gradations. Also, can't we fit it to a metric scale somehow? Like 1-10 kilodammits?

This is quite true: pardon me for misleading.

What I really do believe is that the 0 expands the scale usefully, as does the 5 because back in Beast Wars there were no MPs or Leader Primes.

Very glad that the numbers actually mean something now. Now I just hope parents will start to take notice of them before they buy Leader Optimus for their kids.

I can only imagine how many leader Optimuses are currently lying abandoned and half transformed at the bottom of some four year old's closet right now.

That's the goal, I guess. Especially helpful for grandparents and other relatives who don't buy TFs often and don't know the right skill level for the kid.

Here in America, we don't use the metric scale! We use the good old fashioned English Imperial scale, and if it's good enough for us, it's good enough for everyone else!  (<- Note the smiley to indicate sarcasm)

I do like the term "kilodammit" though. Gonna have to start using that one!

    Seriously; thread won.

It's not one of mine that I like to mess with. But it's not really how difficult he is, its more how fragile he feels. He is more fiddly than than leader OP, so I guess that technically makes him off the chart, but not by that much. :D

MP Megatron is all that difficult to transform based on what you have to do. hell, most of it is pretty intuative. It's just a combo of very tight joints and light plastic makes him feel fragile. essentially he's not very fun to transform but does have a fun tranformation scheme.

Always seems that the 'he's the most difficult' camp don't actually own one.

For those wondering about the written descriptions of the numeric scale, the link below has pictures of a Level 5 designation (Expert) and Level 0 (Non-Converting).

I'm also very glad the numbers are separate from the size classifications now. People couldn't seem to grasp that bigger =/= more complex when I would try to explain it to them, simply because the box said it - so it must be true!
