I came across these online, and it seems like they could be really useful for custom jobs, especially adding articulation to figures and such. Has anybody used them before? Any impressions? Very interesting! I think you're onto something, man. Haven't heard of these until now, but I hope they are released to the masses (looking at you TRU).
Those look like I could find some serious use in them. Hope they become readily available around here.
Heh... if nobody has first-hand knowledge of how good they are, I may have to be the first one to actually buy some and spread the knowledge. I remember back several years, before I was doing collecting TFs again, and I was building Gundams, I would have KILLED for an affordable building toy that was virtually ALL ball joints. This looks like a potential winner... finally! zmog
Really? I've got a line on a 164-pc. set for about $10. Sounds like I should go for it? Of course, who knows... the seller's in HK. Maybe they're KO versions with bad plastic quality? zmog
I got some of these months ago - the "KO" version (BOWEI is the KO, the real ones are called something else), as they were $10 for the 164 piece set. I got a white one and liked it so much I bought another black set. I made a thread about them in the toyark but nobody seemed to care. I highly recommend them. I've not done any modding with them, but I've built the models and I can't see the "official" ones being any better. They're made of solid, well molded plastic. The joints are good and stiff. $10 for a box of these joints is a killer deal for any modder. The best part - ★ make young white-collar employees relax
Hi, I also got a similar set from a trip to Japan. I believe the originals are called Asoblock ASOBLOCK(R) Play with Your Creation! I wish they were a lot cheaper though as I could see myself getting more in the future.
Yeah, i've been looking for those in the UK, but so far I can't find any. They look like they would be so useful it hurts!
my bro got me some of the original asoblocks when he was in japan.....they are really fun to play with
Yeah they look JUST like AsoBlocks, (Which I reviewed for the Kidbash thread a while back), I'm guessing these are K/Os of the Aso's. Definitely good stuff.
I just ordered my set for $9 usd, shipped. They're not listed on Ebay under Bowei... here's the link. The seller has several sets up. DIY Transformer Robot Jigsaw Blocks Bricks Toy New - eBay (item 250669962121 end time Aug-19-10 19:53:05 PDT) zmog
Cool! It must have been the real deal I saw. They have a small assortment of them at a comic book shop that I go to, and they were horribly pricey. These are a nice alternative.
I'm putting this in Bold because i'm really fed up of this by now. I've responded to,, like, more than 5 threads on this by now. BOWEI BLOCKS ARE KNOCK OFFS OF THE ASOBLOCKS SERIES AND ARE MUCH PRICIER THAN THE ORIGINALS. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL ASOBLOCKS, WHICH ARE VERY USEFUL, BUT THEY COST LESS THAN HALF WHAT THESE KNOCK OFFS USUALLY COST. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED, THEY'RE RIPOFFS. You may continue the discussion now.
Yeah, I saw a Japanese online gallery of Asoblocks a few years ago, but had forgotten what they were called. I wasn't sure if these Bowei blocks were the same thing or what. I assume that what you mean above is that the Bowei blocks are less than half the price of authentic Asoblocks, right? The way I see it, for $9, I can afford to take a chance on these. Worst case scenario, the plastic will be too brittle... but they're building toys, so I'm hoping they'll be up to the requirements of my kitbashing needs. zmog
Say it with me: NO. Those knock off cost more than the originals, often twice as much. Now, i can't argue with $9 (Where'd you get that sorta deal?), but given that i have a whole tub of Asoblocks here which i picked up for cheap a while ago... Also, get blakc ones, no matter what you buy, get BLACK. You can't paint Asoblocks, and chances are you won't be able to paint these things either. So buy Black. Unless you plan to make a million Minervas. Also, if anyone's wondering, no i don't work for Asoblocks.
