Happy Memorial Day to everyone and a million thanks to any vets or service men/women that frequent TFW.
It's not for the vets--that's Veterans Day. It's specifically for the ones who couldn't come home. And "Happy Memorial Day" always sounds weird to me. Just an odd thing to preface with "happy." But yeah, keeping 'em in my thoughts and hoping for the day when no more names have to be added.
I've always thought this holiday was a little sketchy. "Let's celebrate the death of many Americans by PARTYING! WHOO, PASS ME A BEER, AND LET'S GO TO A MEMORIAL DAY SALE! What better way to honor dead war heroes?!" But ""Happy"" Memorial Day anyway.
Actually, I don't think there is a better way. We threw a kegger last night for the express purposing of honoring them. Every joe I've ever personally known who didn't come back would have absolutely, unequivocally endorsed getting hammered, partying, chasing tail, and trying to get something for cheap (insofar as it's "beating the system").
*salutes all the war dead everywhere* and id think at least some of the brave men and women who died for our country (USA) would be glad we had such celebrations as they would know there saccrifice was not in vain and that fredom still exists in this country all gave some and some gave all some stood true for the red white and blue and some had to fall all gave some and some gave all
