    Still one of the best Christmas specials ever.

    Simpsons was one of those fundamental defining things that separated the 90s from the 80s. For a lot of people I knew, it really shaped our whole outlook. They could be sweet and charming while simultaneously delivering some of the most cutting satire on tv. I don't think we fully appreciated the heartfelt aspect of the show at the time, but it came across sincere without the contrived phoniness that we were used to seeing elsewhere. That sweet side would later give way to a toxic and detached cynicism which came to be tiresome, and at times loathsome. I hope people can still look past that, because when the Simpsons was good it was brilliant.

    So if this Simpsons Christmas special came out in 89 i was 14 and 15 in 90'. I really don't feel too old just alot more experienced.
