I picked this thing up at Meier for $15 recently. I dig the low slammed design...but the stock version could use some more character. Here’s what I came up with after a few hours with some Testor’s acrylics, black weathering powder and a Future-based black wash:
Thanks man. The movie is a lot of fun for sure. I personally enjoyed it more than the past two main SW movies. Netflix FTW. Nice job! I didn’t realize there was a model kit for Han’s speeder. The biggest downside with the version I bought is the rubber front section they included to support the crash and smash ejection seat gimmick. Time will tell how well the paint stays put on that section...
Nice work! I also enjoyed the movie. Han Solo was always my favorite character, and even though I initially dismissed the idea of the movie, I was sold on the first trailer and watched it twice on my overseas flight last year. The movie is great. It has an OT feel, and the tech and vehicles like this gave it a ton of personality. As someone who is a "G1" Star Wars fan, I can say I feel SOLO was unfairly dismissed and bad-mouthed by a lot a fans. It's absolutely worth watching.
Thanks! And I completely agree on the movie. It was a pleasant surprise and deserved more success than it received. I admit to skipping it in theaters largely due to Star Wars movie burnout and the fact that I wasn't a big fan of TLJ. I rented it at home, so they still got a few bucks out of me.
TLJ is the main reason I haven't watched it yet. It really killed my taste for Star Wars, and I've been watching the originals since I saw RotJ in theatres in the eighties.
Nicely detailed! Now that I've seen this though, I definitely want a crossover Dropkick that turns into this.
After watching Solo at home, it made me wish I hadn't skipped it in theaters. It has a very different feel than TLJ or even TFA. It is fun and lighthearted with enough serious stuff to make it exciting. I don't think you'll be disappointed! Thanks. And I agree that Dropkick could make a good match for this vehicle. The colors are right and the thin proportions should match Dropkicks pretty closely. Good idea.
I was going to call bullshit...but then I remembered what Siege Soundwave actually looks like...lol. You’re on to something. If they want to do crossovers with other franchises, maybe that is how they should it. TF character bot mode and an alt mode from another franchise. Maybe then we can avoid those derpy Han and Chewy cyborg things.
