Almost done with the campaign on PC. Beautiful game. Fun to play. Some major issues with how far and accurate the enemy sightline is, but overall well worth the whopping $15 I spend to play it on Game Pass lol
Finished my first play through. I played it on legendary. I really enjoyed it. 343’s best and I think it’s the best campaign since Halo 3. I really enjoyed the open world factor of it. The story was bare but it wasn’t bad. The stuff with Cortana was meh but I see that as Halo 5 clean up. I think there is good potential in Halo again.
Bout 30% through the laso run. Sword/scorp gun combo. Am curious who collects the armor from dead Spartans? Chief just touches their shoulders. No burials. Sandbox Halo is pretty damn fun. I feel more like Bionic Commando than MC. Or the dude from Just Cause.
don't mean to necro the thread or anything but i just started playing almost two weeks ago and i'm curious about the fractured event am i going to be permanently two weeks behind or am i going to eventually be able to catch up and get all the items? i just finished all my challenges for this current week and only got to tier 10. just curious if i'm going to be forever behind or if the event will keep giving me more weeks to get everything?
It's been about 6 months since launch, and chatter/support has dropped off hard for this game, this thread is the perfect example. The trailer for season 2 looks terrible, literally. Graphically speaking, I swear Halo 5 looks worlds better. Already said season 2 will last 6 months and probably have little content with it. I'm just going to say it, this game is most likely going to completely die out before season 3 even comes. I genuinely want to know who the hell greenlighted this game because it's going to take another 2-3 years for it to being close to finished and after recent failures, I don't think people are going to stay that long. I mean they already lost at least 95% of the player base and it's still dropping. I am so damn tired of the release it now and we will eventually fix it later attitude that developers think is suddenly OK because it's fucking not. But more importantly, I really want to see the original 2020 version of this game because somehow there was an even worse version of this already mess of a game.
A live service game without the live service. It was doomed to fail. Season 2 looks like a joke. This game has virtually no content and what it does have is not the kind that encourages community longevity. No forge or functioning custom games so long after release means people can't create content themselves, which would be so much of 343i's job done for them. It's really weird to see Halo slowly kind of just... die. The open world Campaign was a farce and multiplayer isn't that good of a gameplay loop to keep people coming back. Also on the livestream today they talked about considering dropping armour cores as if that was ever a good idea to begin with. Most of the updates to this game have just been putting it in a state it should've launched at.
So I just checked out season 2 and I got to say I am not impressed. Even just by looking at it, you can tell content is spread thin. Literally, the only reason to play is cosmetics and I fucking hate it. I mean yeah sure, the armor sets look alright, if you're playing Fallout or Gears of War. I honestly thought I would be OK with it, but I absolutely fucking hate it; it literally does not feel like Halo. You got Doom guy samurai, Gears of War, and generic Fallout armor. Not to mention for some goddamn reason Spartan cat ears cause fuck it and shitty mobile game levels of unnecessary bullshit. Ignoring the cosmetics, there's really nothing there and won't be for a good while. I know people are stupid, but come on, the facade is finally lifting and people are seeing the true extent of how much of a flop this truly is. Forge might save this game cause then there would actually be content, but I still don't think it's enough to bring a lot of people back.
Holy hell, Infinite was such a flop they want to monetize the game people are actually playing. This is a new low. Fuck 343, they are never getting my support in the future after the stunts they have pulled with the Halo franchise in recent years. They are beyond incompetent, greedy and utterly fucking useless. Give this IP to someone who gives a damn about the franchise now.
going to provide some clarification, the way the MTX was going to be added was purely additive, a shortcut, would not change anything at all about the challenge system as it exists in MCC, you would still be able to grind everything out for free, nothing (but the games) would be behind a paywall, and it was only being considered, wasn't certain Bioroid Boogaloo
well i have good news, co op flights are going to be starting next month, and then in August it comes out (network) for everyone, splitscreen will come at a later time https://twitter.com/Unyshek/status/1534234270335500288
this is the trend that just about every company is doing so even if the IP goes somewhere else, which it won't, they'll just do the same things. possibly worse. I mean do we want a halo event with godzilla and king kong stomping around the map? or freddy kruger randomly spawning in?
Yes Legitimately Because at that point people will finally realize the game is shit. All my die hard cod friends all started to drop off around infinite warfare. The way they butchered the new Modern Warfare turned us off for good. The only way people will finally start to take action is when the fuck it beyond recognition. Except sports gamers, they love to be fucked over by every way possible. I mean look at the backlash Infinite has gotten, they do something so extremely stupid like that, people will finally push back.
It is genuinely saddening to see Halo just fizzle out and die. Infinite was a big empty hole. Even MCC started to get stale because while it was a fantastic collection of old games they were and still are old games, and not something to provide forward momentum for the franchise itself. Now this talk of monetizing it, the utter wasteland that Infinite has become, that Godawful show, this franchise is just depressing to look at now. It is weird to see what is basically my favourite franchise next to Transformers shrivel up and lose me like this. It rode so high for so long.
well fair enough then but from how this fanbase complains about everything already i can't imagine a new company that would no doubt do something different and change up the gameplay is going to go over any better. but you want it torn down? more power to you. i'm definitely the odd man out here since i actually enjoy the game. i liked the campaign and i think mp is pretty fun and i've been playing halo games from the very start.
I don't think it's that the game is unenjoyable. The actual gameplay mechanic has been almost universally praised. The problem is an always has been management and direction. As far as the campaign goes movement, shooting, et al are all solid. It's the vapid excuse for an open world, repetitive environment, and generic engagements (a fault owing almost entirely to the open world) along with a complete nothing of a story that drags it down. On top of that it won't even get any DLC until 2025. (as if the game will even still be alive by then) For an open world with so little to offer it was a chore just to finish the campaign, let alone ever be insensitivised to replay it. (not that you can even replay individual levels for some reason) As far as the multiplayer goes it's a similar story. Good core mechanics, awful landscape. Too few maps, too few game modes, a horrid progression system, and a storefront that takes priority over everything for post-launch support. It's a live service game minus the live service. The playerbase has practically dried up. It relied entirely too much on gimmicks and the positives were not good enough to outweigh the negatives. Nobody wants to hate this game, but it's done nothing to keep the majority of people around. All its good aspects are tainted with massive "buts." (rather than massive butts, which would've been awesome) The armour sets are cool, but you are limited in what you can combine. The progression system being similar to MCC would be great, but it takes an ungodly amount of time. The campaign gameplay is fun, but the open world is almost vacant and it spreads the encounters out so thinly there's hardly any momentum. So on and so forth.
