New company Half The Battle Toys is doing Legends scale cassette bots among other things. These were designed by our very own @NOCV.

    I’m pretty sure they’re all NOCV’s handiwork.

    And, this is awesome! :buttrock

I think @NOCV mentioned something about HTB doing GI Joe/TF crossover stuff as well, so there's a good chance that'll happen. I made this thread for the Legends tapes, though. The crossover stuff should probably have its own thread.

No clue. People were snapping pics all day. It was fun to watch. Fuller renders:

Yep, so far all by me.
Like a kid on prom night. :)
Right, and there's a thread on the tank.

I'm designing for both lines, but primarily on the Legends one.

Thanks for getting this thread started, @Snaku . It felt a little funny for me to do it, so I didn't.

Feel free to ask any questions on the tapes, or make suggestions. The designs are a work in progress, needing updated for injection molding and mass production, so some details will change, though I will always aim to hit the key notes on these guys.

There are 15 planned per faction, and all are made to work with (fit inside of) DX9/Pocket Toys Soundwave, and MST's Blaster. I tried to hit every single cassette character in the line up, but there may be a super obscure one or two I missed. There's even fun, 3P names for them all (Flip Sides is my favorite - Undertone).

Plans are there to also do the L+ size for MFT Blaster, and eventual Soundwave, but the focus will be Legends first.

It'd be inappropriate for me to discuss too many details on what is coming from TFJoes or in the future of Pocket Pioneers, so don't be upset if I skip over anything related to those points.

No, that was a "an adult should be able to connect the crude dots in this statement, but my kid's bound to be a member here one day, so I'm not gonna spell it out" kind of reference. :D

@NOCV These look really cool! I especially like the Rumble/Frenzy and Ratbat. I saw Slugfest, is there going to be an Overkill? For whatever reason those are two of my favorite cassette bots.

    Thank you.

Yes, of course, I love dinosaurs. Overkill is nearly finished, he just wasn't ready to be critiqued yet. Zaur, Noise, and Graphy are also on the roster.

Very cool stuff, @NOCV. And, many congrats for FINALLY getting your amazing works out into the community in a big way. I'll be waiting with baited breath, on pins and needles, doing the pee-pee dance until they are released.
    :poop

In the meantime, SOMEONE PLEASE GET THIS MAN A BEER!!!

So, sorry if I'm coming off as rude, as I have no knowledge of design, but I think slugfests head is just a bit too big. Could you devote some of that chunk to a little neck instead. Sorry if I'm coming off as rude. Just offering an option

All of them are so bought. Some twice (guess who?).

Great work, NOCV, I’m happy to see your designs get the recognition they deserve.

Not rude at all. I appreciate any input, and when you're making stuff for people to buy, feedback just comes with the territory.

The design challenge with these is that they are literally the size of a quarter..
    201803062054020460~01.jpg

Which means that part size and articulation are limited due to the size the completed figure needs to be, and the strength its materials needs to have. With those constraints there's corners that need cut, but like a good caricature, I try to hit the key notes or details of the character.

The limitations with Slugfest are where the joints need to be for his head and tail to work in both modes, as well as the size his head needs to be to have a functioning mouth.
    Mobile Upload 2019-10-30 08-38-06.jpg
You can see the neck and tail joints here, on the left side of the tape. They're small ball joints to allow more articulation in the head and tail than a simple hinge would permit. If the head's was moved closer to the bottom of the tape, near the legs, so that he could have a slimmer neck, then the head would not be able to get to its alt mode position.

I hope this doesn't come off as "your opinion is wrong", because it's not. Stegos are undoubtedly one of my favorite dinos and I'd be thrilled to take a more realistic approach with the creature, like I did Ratbat. Unfortunately I was really challenged by the size of this one, so I did the best I could at updating his G1 figure.

    reduced-galery_image_5095_8395 (1).jpg Mobile Upload 2019-10-30 08-56-05.jpg

Hopefully you'll like it more once you can see Overkill and the other dino-tapes with him. There's a design language I try to carry through all of them, that I think leaves them looking like a nice, little, cohesive set.

Terribly. I'm a total night owl.

Ah, that's fair. These are pretty tiny, and they are amazing for what you've done. Personally, I kind of like the chubby head. It's kind of cute, y'know? I was just posing an idea as these are legends, so I thought suggesting a smaller head was appropriate. Still, it's so well done. I can't wait to see your overkill as well:)

There is no MFT Soundwave yet. There is a Hot Soldiers Soundwave that these will not fit in.

There will be a larger size made to fit MFT's Blaster, which should also fit their eventual Soundwave.
